About Mertz Perch:
Limestone and Sandstone rock face along the Allegheny River. Ranges in difficulty from steep hills on the outskirts to 5.10-5.11 climbs towards the middle. Height of the rocks and climbing areas vary between just over 50 feet to close to 200 feet. There is a nice area to camp at the top of the cliffs as well as a section with multiple terraces. All areas can either be hiked to, bouldered to, or rappelled to. Several areas do however contain loose rock and protection such as helmets should be worn. All in all, very nice area to climb. |
