About Hammond Rocks:
Hammond Rocks is a small bouldering field up in the middle of the south mountains in central PA. There are a few descent boulders to work with, and some stuff to scramble around on, with a nice high rock to relax on and check out the view of the area. Geology: Wevertone conglomerate |
Nearest town or city: | Mt. Holly Springs |
Directions: | Just south of Mt. Holly Springs, turn off at the Deer lodge (on the left if traveling north, or right if traveling south on rt 34). Pull off and there's a dirt road. Drive back that and the road splits, take the sharp right up the side of the mountain and drive for a few miles (4wd recommended this is one crappy road for anything else). Eventually, you'll come to a pull-off place on the left side with a bouldering field. If you get to an intersection in the dirt road (a full intersection with another road, not just a fork to the left or right), you went too far! |

Access Issues: | There is a lot of broken glass and graffiti at this location. Makes climbing/bouldering very difficult. |
