Beam Rocks
About Beam Rocks:
It's highest point is about 80ft. Be aware of Rattlesnakes and Poison Ivy/Oak/Sumac. The rock is very rough, so be sure to have padding for your gear. It will shred a rope pretty quickly. The Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail goes along the base of the cliffs, so be courteous to hikers, and clean up any trash. Also be careful of broken glass at the base of the cliffs. |
Nearest town or city: | Laurel Mountain Village |
Directions: | From Jennerstown, Pa take Route 30 W.
At the top of the Laurel Summit, turn left onto Laurel Summit Road, back toward Laurel Mountain Ski Resort. From Ligonier, PA. take Route 30 E. Go past the ski area entrance about 2 miles on a dirt/gravel road. Parking for Beam's Rocks is on the left. Don't park at the Beam Run sign, but continue past to the Beam Rocks sign. It's less than a 10 minute hike to the rocks and you end up at the top of the cliff. There are many trails down to the base, and there are some boulders to climb around on, too. |
