About Palisades State Park:

Unusual terrain and a colorful past make Palisades State Park one of the most unique areas in South Dakota. Split Rock Creek, which flows through the park, is lined with quartzite formations varying from shelves several feet above the water to 50-foot vertical cliffs. The park is popular among campers, sightseers, picnickers, rock climbers and hikers. The park is open 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. May 1 through Sept. 30 and 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 1 through April 31. An entrance fee is required year-round.
Nearest town or city: Garretson
Directions: From Sioux Falls, go east on Interstate 90 to Exit 410. Drive north on County Highway 105 (486th Avenue) to 255th Street (may be a sign to Palisades SP?) and turn left. Turn left again at 485th Avenue, then hang a right into the entrance of the park.
