Follow directions to 'B Crag', but drive up the hill just under the Bountiful 'B'. Very soon you come to a fork- stay right. A short time later you see a canyon containing some crappy limestone (tiny potential?). Continue up and up, until you are near the ridge line. Off to your left, across a deep canyon, is a series of cliffs just below a road. As you approach the turnout near the ridge crest, a narrow road takes off left toward the cliff. After several minutes you will be above the cliff- park a couple hundred yards up the road at a large turnout. Driving time from the 'B' is approximately 30 minutes over much washboard, but there should be no clearance issues- a wimpy sedan gets there fine. The area is extremely popular with atvs and motorcycles, so keep a sharp eye and be courteous.
From your car, walk back downhill to the area above the cliff, where a short trail scrambles down to a quartzite outcrop. Rappel a short distance from bolts to a large ledge. On top of the ledge is a single bolt, used for safe access to reach anchors for both climbs. These are standard hangers so bring slings. Make another rappel (with a sporting first step) to the base. It is recommended that you rap in and climb out, as slogging around the cliff to either side sucks. You can also walk down around the side of the cliff (right side as you face down the trail) through talus to avoid the rap if desired. |
