About Stansbury Island:
Please dont go past the gate without permission. Otherwise all those who actually got permission will lose their right ot climb there. There are plenty of climbs before the gate so do those. On the quartzite boulders closest to the highway, you'll find the aesthetic Yo Mama (V5) highlighted in the gallery of Rock & Ice #98. |

Directions: | Coming from Salt Lake, take I-80 west past the Tooele exit. You'll see a Morton Salt factory on the right and a exit sign for Stansbury Island. At the stop sign at the bottom of the exit ramp, turn left and follow the main road out to the island. About 6 miles from the highway, you'll see the first major outcrop of quartzite. A few boulders at the base of this outcrop provide some quality bouldering, although the quanity of problems is limited. A little futher up the road is some sharp limestone that has some problems. Inside the gate is better but do not go unless you have permission. |
