About Zion:
There are a ton of undeveloped routes there, there are two different areas, one upper and one lower, the lower is shorter and more open. The upper is more overhung. I think it can all be toproped, but there's a ton of stuff to explore, so don't quote me on that. Private land, the guy who owns the place is really cool, his name is Kit, he tells me he did some climbing with the Sierra Club in the 60's, but not anymore. He's cool with people climbing there as long as you're roped up. Bouldering and free climbing are big on the no list, as well as really dangerous, there's a lot of loose stuff and lichens. |
Nearest town or city: | Castleton |
Directions: | get off of Route 4 at exit 5 for Castleton and go north on Hubbardton? road. Take this for about 6 miles to a sign for Hubbardton Battlefield and turn left onto the dirt road there. Turn into the first driveway on the left and bear left when it splits. You'll cross 2 cattle grates, mind the cows and solitary sheep. You'll see a parking sign at the second grate. Grab a map next to the house and have fun. |
