About Exfoliation Dome:

Exfoliation Dome has some of the finest routes in Darrington, and they very from low angle slab climbs to steep aid climbs. The routes on the west face, known as Blueberry Hill, are mostly 6 to 10 pitches, with a large dose of slab climbing involved but some have some great steeper pitches as well. The West Buttress is a good trad climb, Dark Rhythm excellent slab climbing, while Rainman and Jacob's Ladder have some excellent steeper pitches. The summit of the dome is worth a visit. The routes on the east face include a half dozen fairly steep aid climbs, some slab climbs, and one full height moderate free climb that tops out after 8 pitches. More info: www.mattsea.com/Darr
Approach: The Dome is approached from a logging road that forks left off the main Clear Creek logging road about about 5.5 miles from the Mountain Loop Highway. The East face routes are approached via an overgrown logging road that cuts back up left maybe a half mile from the bridge over Clear Creek. Where it cuts back to the right, look for a trail heading up into the woods in a hundred yards or so. The trail emerges onto a boulder field below Witch Doctor Wall maybe 45 minutes from the car.
