About Macleary Cliffs:

This area has been a rock climbing training area for the Mountaineers. It is named for a photographer Mac McCleary who died climbing or hiking nearby.
Approach: From the inteersection of State Route 119 and Forest Service road 24 go 4.0 miles toward the Staircase Ranger Station and find parking at a wide spot on the L side of the road.
Approach Time: 5 minutes on a bad day

Access Issues: Road recently closed 3 or 4 miles East of cliffs, illegal to even walk in. Should open by 7/4/08.
