About La Costa Atlantica:

Ok, it's certainly not Red Rocks (you know: near Las Vegas), and it might not even be Minnehaha (check: Spokane, Washington) but the boulders and bolted walls of La Costa Atlantica offer another alternative for climbers in the Mar del Plata area. There are dozens of boulder problems (although the landings can be somewhat complicated) and two bolted face climbing areas on artificial retaining walls. My personal favorite is the dozen or so face climbs near Playa Grande consisting of short, but technical and devious face moves on small holds up an 85 degree wall. The routes at Playa Grande range from 5.10c to about 5.12a, and you'll definitely find that your fingers give out long before the rest of your body does. When you get tired of crimping, go crank a few overhangs on the nice boulder just to the right of the face climbs. At least this time the landing zone is situated over soft, green grass.
