About Socaire:

The Quebrada de Nacimiento, where this climbing area is located, is perhaps one of the best and most varied climbing areas in chile, and also one of the most beautiful (just look at the pictures). With a reddish volcanic rock that comes in all forms imaginable, the canyon stretches for over 15 miles offering thousands of possible routes on faces, cracks and aretes. Around 200 routes are set up as of now. Bouldering, Trad and Sport climbing are all available in this area. If you don't have trad gear, most routes can be set up from the anchors on toprope. Be careful with pro placements, the rock in this area is rather soft.

Area Resources: It's recommended you travel to Socaire well equipped, nights are usually very cold even in summer due to the elevation, so bring a good sleeping bag. Very pure and good quality water is available where the road crosses the canyon at the top, food is available in Socaire. Medical supplies, especially anything for altitude sickness, are very likely to be non-existant. Bring anything of the kind you need.
