Yerba Loca national reserve is the closest place to santiago where ice climbing can be practiced, the season roughly coincides with the ski season which normally runs from about mid may till the end of september There are various areas that allow ice climbing, all of these are from an hour to 5 hours hike from the end of the access route. difficulty from WI3-WI6. |

Directions: | Drive from santiago in the direction of Farellones, you will see signs for Yerba Loca and Villa Paulina, take that turn off and follow till the end of the road. hitchhiking is mostly useless in central chile so donīt plan on getting a ride. there are buses available, ask at one of the climbing shops |
