Directions: The rock at Asseri is a large boulder quite exposed and very visible on the hillside above Asseri. It is such a prominant local landmark that it is locally known as 'Piedra de Asserri' and a large white cross has been erected on top of it. The roads to this area all take many turns and are confused by frequent random one-way sections and very few signs. The only way to drive to this area is by frequently asking locals for directions to Asseri, then Barrio Mercedes then to 'Piedra de Asserri'. When you get near the Barrio Mercedes you can see the rock. When you get to a small soda on the right and where a small road branches to the right, take that road about 100m past the public phone then look for the two dirt roads leading up the hill. Take the right one and follow straight approx 100m until the end of the housing. At the border of the last house a trail branches to the right and follow this obvious trail all the way to rock. The walk on the trail can be done in 10-15mins by a fit person. You may also arrive by the 'Asserri - Barrio Mercedes' bus which stops in central San Jose, 100m south and 50m east from the Cine Rex. Ask the bus driver to drop you off in Barrio Mercedes or close to 'Piedra de Asserri'. Ubicado a 5 minutos de la ciudad de Aserri en el barrio Las Mercedes. Se debe acsesar caminando alrededor de 1 km.
