About Shaqsha:
Shaqsha is a relatively esoteric 5703m peak in the southern section of the Cordillera Blanca. Several routes exist, though none are frequently climbed. The peak is a fantastic adventure for climbers aspiring to bigger challenges. |
Nearest town or city: | Huaripampa |
Directions: | Take a colectivo from Huaraz to the pueblo of Huaripampa. Follow the main road south out of town, then head east up the major ridge headed towards the peak. Follow the ridge (and a canal with running water) to a broad saddle high in the puna where the canal is reinforced by dikes on either side. Here the trail leaves the canal and heads up the ridge and over a series of hills and passes to the rocky ridge that gains access to the glacier. |
