SportsOneSource Media reported on July 11 that Liz Claiborne Inc. is looking to cut expenses and simplify operations by selling 16 brands, one of which is prAna. The report states that LC has recently had poor department store sales, but no further details were reported. Not mentioned in the report was the fact that the consideration of these divestitures comes just weeks after the death of Liz Claiborne herself.

It isn't necessarily great news: CNN Money says that they might "sell, license out or possibly discontinue" PrAna and the other brands. (source: http://money.cnn.com/news/newsfeeds/articles/djf500/200707111817DOWJONESDJONLINE000929_FORTUNE5.htm)

Well, if it's true, many of us can join and buy the brand, no?

It's highly unlikely that PrAna will be discontinued. It will most likely be sold. Liz Claiborn bought it in November 2005 for roughly $50 million. At that time PrAna's revenue was something around $30 million per year, and since acquisition that figure has grown substantially.

I can't imagine it selling for less than it was bought, and the projected price is upwards of $75 million... just in case if anyone was interested in scooping it up.

I was going to ask the same thing. I haven't noticed either an increase or decrease in quality since LC bought prAna and the price is still the same...high!

cut and style need to improve for women prana especially for the price. thank goodness for the bi-annual sale. however, the owners/founder (beaver & wife) are really nice and contributed back to climbing community. obviously very good business people.
