Three accounts of gear theft to the value of $5,000 are being investigated by the Boulder County Sheriff's Office in Eldorado State Park after climbers reported their backpacks and personal items missing this past week.

The thieves made off with the climbers equipment while they were ascending, having left their backpacks at the base. There are presently no reports of who the suspects may be, though a group of teenagers were seen in the vicinity at the approximate time of the thefts.

A cash reward is offered for any information that will lead to an arrest, the number to call is: (303) 441-3650

One of the few places I've been to where people will actually leave your gear alone is Japan. At least they have respect for fellow climbers and their belongings.

Wow, Who leaves $5000 worth of stuff in backpacks at the base of climbs? I know I am usually carrying all the expensive stuff with me when I am "ascending"
