The AAC is proud to announce the 2009 ZMBB (Zack Martin Breaking Barriers) grant recipients, Clint Estes and Matt Hepp.

Clint and Matt are going to Pakistan. Their humanitarian objective is to provide instruction, building plans and materials for earthquake resistant housing that uses affordable local materials. The AAC, and this Committee Chari, are hopeful that Clint and matt will actually build a home and document the process. Doing this would allow the locals to replicate the process and provide the knowledge for other interested parties to do likewise.

For their alpine objective they will climb a new (hopefully multiple) new alpine rock routes in the Kondus Valley. This area is located in Northeast Pakistan, near the Pakistan-India border, and was recently opened for climbing and mountaineering. The rock towers of the Kondus valley are impressive monoliths that stand up to 6,500 meters high.

Please join me and congratulate Clint and Matt as the 2009 ZMBB Grant recipients.

John Parsons
ZMBB Committee Chair
