Thanks everyone, and congrats on all you other quitters. I still have dreams of smoking and cravings, but nothing like when I "needed" a smoke. It was relatively easy to actually quit once I realized I was ready. It's all mental. I quit cold turkey. charley had told me that I'd know when I was ready, and he was right. I just knew I was ready to quit. Now I can tell Hines Ward that I'm a quitter. heh Chad, I was about a half pack to 3/4 pack a day smoker. Sometimes more. Sometimes less. In college it was a lot more, maybe 2 packs sometimes. But, I smoked the cheapest ones there were, Jacks. When I started smoking, they were 80 cents a pack. That was in 1997-98. They were $3.31 when I quit. Not sure what they are now, but I figured out that even if I only had smoked half a pack a day I saved over $600 this last year, and that's if they're still $3.31 a pack. I haven't even been in where I used to buy them for a couple months even for coffee. I've stopped drinking as much coffee, too and have saved about $160 over the summer not buying coffee very much at all. Of course, I've been drinking more beer than normal so that's made up for the coffee and some of the cig money and about 15lbs heavier. Still, I can actually play with the kids without getting winded so quickly, and can walk up the stairs without tiring out. I can walk 5 miles and think nothing of it. Run 3 miles in under 25 minutes. Something I couldn't do a year ago.
