Thanks for asking. That is not what I intended. Belaying the leader from below simply means the belayer is anchored below the leader. It doesn't mean anything with respect to how the belayer is attached to the anchor. Same for belaying a second from above. It just means the belayer is above the second. Bill L Edit: As for an upward pull piece, assume there is one there if it is needed. Also, the lead rope goes from the belay device up to the first piece placed on lead.
