Well my friend, it is a small gathering that we have in New Hampshire at the beginning of the summer, even though it started as an October gathering (we turned to whimps because of the cold). It is held near Rumney, as to the true beginnings of the event, but we are also close enough to make it to Cannon, Whitehorse and Cathedral Ledge, plus all the hidden jems along the Kank. We get about 25 or more climbers, some from the South East, but more from New England. You are more then welcome to join us if you wish. There is no date set, just throwing the idea out to see if we should have it again this year.

There is another, the last one I did with you that day (can't remember the name or location), but it was a slanting right route that I just could not send. Can you remember what it was called? We sat and encouraged all the young climbers on the overhangs.

If there's somewhere to host it, you bet! Actually, even if not, how 'bout just one of the campsites, like the place by the river right across from the parking lot. Or there's also really nice camping in the (state?) forest. Anyway, yeah, I'm in so long as it's Summer. Come Fall, I may have moved out west. GO

We still have Colleens and Jim's, but as mentioned before, it is a 20 minute drive. We could reserve campsites nearby, but that would have to the understand and agreement of all.

Don't let me influence your decision. You folks up there know more about the weather than I. If you set it up and I can make it it would be nice to see you again. I like climbing there. It was nice most every day when up there in oct.

Alan you know that I am interested. I may be able to get Climbing for Christ to pitch in $ for some food, and/or arrange another spaghetti dinner at the local church again. (That ought to get Bill going.) Might want to change the title of the thread to get more attention or move it to events or something?? I promise to bring the good weather again this year!

I was considering moving it to events. However, is there plans on creating another thread? Or, is this thread going to serve as the official thread for planning? For the time being, I am going to move this to East Coast. We'll see where it goes from there...

I've heard about the Conn climbs, old school all the way. I just might take you up on the offer. Have you been to Farley's ledge? I have family in the area and could spend time there. When you plan on being in NH ... Do Let Me Know!

There has been some interest on this event, but no suggestions as to where it should take place. We have two schools here. One would keep us in and around Rumney, each renting their own site a one campground, keep the crew together. Notch (Mat) mentioned that there is a campground where we could get a group discount. the only concern that I personally have are for those who like to stay up late. There may be a "quite time" to observe. Then there is Colleen and Jim's. As you know, it is a little drive (20 minutes) from Rumney, in the middle of nowhere. Before I commit, I need to understand what the undertaking will be. Any other thoughts???

I'm cool for either. I don't know what the event was last year, so I'm down for whatever. side note: Farley is sick. I've only been there once, but I loved it. We'll go for sure some time. I need to go reclaim my dignity; it's 3 bolts up on some 11.

I've only been through the caves at Farley and only had seen one time climbers on the walls. This was back in the late 70's and early 80's. I'm really glad that they have opened it to the public and have to get there! I have family both in Greenfield and Athol with more then enough space to pitch a tent. Gotta set a time this summer. Since you've been there, you can show me around!

I have already spoken to Colleen and she would be more then happy to have everyone again, as long as I set aside space for the heavier vehicles ... BUT ... the spraying for ticks will not happen this year. The fields are known to have many ticks, so be forewarned when choosing to camp here.

Let's see... last year my dog died suddenly and I had to rush home. The year before last it was a monsoon for the entire weekend and it took more than a week for the field to dry out and allow me to pull my camper out. So, like yea.... I'M IN!!!! I enjoyed camping at Colleens. But man, those ticks are really big and hungry. I might be prone to the campsite across from Rumney. That place with the cool donkey. I vote for any weekend in June with 6/27-6/29 being my first vote.

Count me in - rain or no rain - because there's always pizza, pool and beer at Plymouth House of Pizza. I'm fine with staying wherever. The Camara's place across the street is nice and cheap, and they were hurting for business last that I heard.

Last I knew the place across the street was hesitant about a largeish size group like us. That may have changed? especially with Ruckus in our name! With gas prices it might be worth it to pay for camping closer to the crags.

Last time we were there it was a ghost town and the Camara's were wondering why business had tapered off. They are a little quirky, but really nice folks. If we all show up without calling ourselves a 'ruckus' I'd bet they'd be happy to see us!

I also agree with the site across the street. Not only will it be closer, but the hosts and the new eats across the street (can't remember their name) will be happy for the business. Is everyone agreeable with the date Pharmboy suggested, 6/27-6/29? I'd like to nail this down before creating an Events and Happenings post. Gonna be a great time this year!

This will be our 4th year married and our 3rd year spending our anniversary with all you guys. We have a blast every year! Father's day is a little rougher time for us because Dakotah has not been converted to climber dirtbag status like the rest of her family! All in due time.

We have two dates on the table. The weekend of the 14th/15th and the weekend of the 21st/22nd ... Gotta choose which one ... do I have to set up a poll?

Please please please, the 21/22. I didn't realize the weekend before was on the table. I thought it was between 21/22 and the 28/29. If we make it the 21/22 I'll bring cake. Everyone loves cake.

I think me and Josh would prefer the 20/21. Dakotah likes to spend father's day with her Dad, NOT doing climbing related things.

Hey all, long time no see. Another Rumney gathering that I'm going to miss. However, we're expecting our first baby around that time, so all is not lost. I should point out, for all you francophobes (hi Jake!), that the weekend of June 21-22 is also the weekend of Quebec's "national" holiday, so the area will be packed by a bunch of obnoxious québécois who climb harder than you.

So, it looks like the weekend of the 20/22. Now, who is in charge of getting a place to stay? Did I read where Tiff is sending the information to Rich and Rich was making the contact? Rich ...... ?

Todd i don't think it's that hard to get on Vadar..(speaking of which i wanna TR Darth Vadar .8 sometime) think of it this way.. most people get up late.. and go home early. They also swarm the meadows and parking lot early. however.. a quick jaunt up to Upper vadar. .4, .6, .7, .8 warm ups.. drop down to lower.. Obi Won and Yoda ready to go. jog across to Bonsai and watch Al send the crap out of Peer Pressure and swing wildly on Social O ;) There is also headlamp climbing.. which. is super fun. most weekends should be good for me.. might not get to extend passed like i usually do but we'll see what kinda vacation days i can get at work

Is there anyone looking at the Main Wall? I know there may be closure due to the Falcons, but last year, they stayed on higher grounds. Jake ... since you'll have your stick, wanna try Jedi Mind Tricks? 12b ... short little jaunt and a nice overhang to finish? I know ... can't hit a good 11 and I'm looking on punishing myself on this?

i'll give it a go.. will need someone that is pretty snappy on belay.. and some beta cuz i've never seen anyone do it and forget what my friend sean told me about it. I'm bouldering fairly strong in the gym these days so it might fit. ahh 5.9 it is..the .8 is the R/X route.. also top ropable and if someone brings gear up there i'd think about leading it :) would seem suitable that my first .9 trad lead would be on shist surrounded by bolts ;)

I haven't heard from Tiff or Josh yet with the number, but I'm sure they'll get it to me when they get a chance. ...and Al, as far as the main wall and the falcons go, wasn't it you that was up there early early spring last year scaring 'em off? You'll just have to go back and do it again this year. I remember having this partner that was so excited about the warm weather that he jumped around, running up and down the trail like a lil' kid on the first day of vacation .... maybe they thought this was the type of people that would be around that year and scooted to safer grounds?? I just remember taking pictures of the nice falcons and my partner ... hmmmm ... wasn't that you?

The only prob is that first thing in the am I am not ready for it and late in the day I am no longer ready for it. Being trad we may be able to talk Matt into it. Speaking of Matt where is Notch? Anybody heard from him?

so THAT'S who's causing the donkey make so much noise.. keep it down you two! ;) Todd thats the reason for the warm up at Upper vadar. or a quick cruise through the meadows on whats open. I dunno what route exactly you want to get on Obi won, yoda or Darth vadar but i'd think a few of those easier routes or laps on one of them would get you ready. i'll lead Obi in the dark.. haven't done that yet but would be fun. NH trad means cracks or slab.. boooo give me gunks horizontals and i'm there. notice i didnt say I'D be bringing cams up there.. i will be there with my draws, 9.5mm rope and downturned shoes but will screw around on a .9 i haven't done for giggles.

Last I heard from Notch he was headed to Vegas for the Big Show. That was quite awhile ago. Maybe he is still up some canyon somewhere at Red Rocks. Regarding dates, whenever, I'm there. Being near or on Father's Day is good. I might be able to guilt trip Caitlin into coming with me. Friday will be Trad Day again. Third time will be the charm. Moby Grape will get done even if we have at aid it in the rain.
