Yep, I have from Dec. 20th to Jan. 6th off. I want to do some climbing at a sunny south facing crag. Guess what crag fits that description? You got it. I also would like to spend 3-4 days climbing there. Who's up for it?

I won't camp, but I will make one or two day trips up there! I've never been there before, so you will have to guide me. If you're camping, send me info on where you will be and how to find you.

Wow, JayBee, haven't heard from you in a while! Wanna come down and join us? I need to return the hospitality you and Jill showed me and Sportloser at the Red last time. I really am serious about spending a few days up there. I'd love to see a good group at the T-Wall over Christmas. I know Mike is dying to get up there. Looks like a maybe from Overhung. And Anne WANTS to come, I know...

Actually ya'll, I was thinking more along the lines of sometime between 12/27 and 1-6 anyway. That way, it won't be such a mad rush to get up there right after Thanksgiving dinner like the S.E. Gathering. Plus, I promised mom I'd spend a couple of days before Christmas with them to make up for my skipping out at Thanksgiving. [ This Message was edited by: tradpuppy on 2002-12-09 09:34 ]

I can absolutely make this one! It's been at least a month and a half since i've hiked the hill to T-Wall, and Goldenlocks is calling me. I have a week off after Christmas. I promised my parents that I would see them sometime durring that week but if any stragglers are hanging around, I'm up for showing them around. Hell, I'll probably make a couple of trips down if the dates dont get any more set. I'll keep checking back. Travis

Sorry overhung, couldn't resist. Oh, and Jeff (Twall Tom, tradpuppy, whatever), I'd love to come down and climb in the land of orange corners that is T-Wall, but the wife and I will be road tripping west, not south during that time!! Hey, had a great time showing you some of the Red's finest cracks while letting sportlooser climb those overhaning pockets that folks round here seem to dig.

Jaybee (former Hitler in a Railroad Hat, JB, etc.) Twall Tom had to die, unfortunately. Twall Tammy wanted a divorce, so he couldn't live with himself anymore, or anyone else for that matter, so we put that mad cow out to pasture. I hope to be making a return trip to the Red sometime this winter. Sportloser? Well, he'll just boulder and boulder and boulder some more. Biggah, I'm not sure if there's room for you because I think the T-wall is: SMALLERNHELL!!!! Mwaaaa haa haa. Really, I think we could possibly accomodate you.

OK, all you T-Wallians, here's some T-Wall directions: From the north: Take I-75 south until it turns into I-24 near Chattanooga. You will see where 75 veers off left down into Ga. Go another 5 miles or so on I-24 until you see the signs on the right for "27 North, Downtown Chattanooga" on the RIGHT side of the interstate. Take the exit for 27 north, following it past downtown. Cross the Tennessee River over the Olgiati bridge (under construction, be careful) and go another mile or so, going up and then back down a hill. On the descending side of the hill, look out for "highway 127/Signal Mountain Rd" on the RIGHT. Take a RIGHT onto the 127 exit and follow it to the bottom of the hill. Take another RIGHT and go on through 2 or 3 traffic lights, past a Burger King and a Bi-Lo Shopping Center. Drive on toward the base of the mountain, and after about 3/5 mile past the Bi-Lo, you'll see a sign on the LEFT for "127 west/ Suck Creek Rd." Turn LEFT onto Suck Creek Rd. and follow it about 4 miles until you reach a small concrete bridge. IMMEDIATELY after the bridge, on the LEFT, will be River Canyon Rd. Turn LEFT onto River Canyon Rd. and prepare yourself for the winding white trash tour. BTW, this rd. winds along right next to the Tennessee River for the most part. You will go approx. 6.3 miles on River Canyon Rd. Drive slow, there's about 1,000,000 blind curves and the road is quite narrow. After 6.3 miles, you'll see a large parking lot/pulloff on the LEFT and most likely there will be cars parked there. All the camping is on the left side of the road. Remember, this large parking lot on the left will be the only pulloff of its size, so it will be hard to miss. The trail to the cliff is just before the parking lot on the right, btw. I'm going to try and get up there on the 26th myself. If you are approaching from the south, the directions are the same except you'll veer left onto I-24 west toward Nashville off I-75 north. If it were not for the blistering 70 degree weather that I've been putting up with here in Mexico, I would have joined ya'll. I was at T-wall for Thanks Giving Day and it was fantastic. This is breakfast time at T-wall: http://www.aristasol.com/phpix/view.php?album=Album1%2F2002%2Fdec022002-1&pic=p1010001.jpg&dispsize=512&start=0&picindex=0 Have a good trip.

I like the pics of Finagle. However, I find the "sun" graffiti disturbing. I noticed there are some Sandrock pics. If it's Sandrock, well, unfortunately the locals are the ones doing it. But PLEASE don't leave graffiti at T-Wall! [ This Message was edited by: tradpuppy on 2002-12-18 09:52 ]

Yeah, I get quite dirty at times and I'll need someone to scrub my back. Brushes seem to do the trick.

I just want to clarify that the link that I posted earlier with pictures of twall also included some pictures of Sandrock and HP40. The grafitti is quite evident at Sendrock. This was my first trip to Alabama and I felt quite sorry for the aspect of the rock at Sandrock. The grafitti that defaces this crag. I took the pictures in an effort to document the situation. I do not support grafitti in any form. I had heard about the grafitti, but I was not expecting it to be this bad. I hope the local climbing groups do make some headway in creating ethics among the different users (not just climbers) of the crags to stop the proliferation of the grafitti.

From wrcb news: More details on the mad cow incident have surfaced. He was actually flattened by a very, very large boulder dislodged by the extremely irie evil twin of bigwallgumbie, known in aid climbing circles as bigwallscumbie. Apparently, bigwallscumbie decided to loosen a piece of cliff from the top after his deadpoint ascent of Stone Wave. More details at 11:01.

I second Tradpuppy as Official Host. Of course this means he won't get to climb as much, but I'm sure he won't mind. I may be a little late on Friday, so make sure he stays in camp to show me where to put my tent.

I third tradpuppy if he's going to make coffee (even though I haven't absolutely decided to go)! Just so y'all know . . if I decide to go, I will leave here early Fri a.m. and get there between 12 and 1pm local time. I'll go look for everyone around the base. I'll have to head back Sunday morning.
