i have seen a pad with the outline of a person as if it was an outline of a body at a murder scene. Looks cool but you need someone small enough to trace. this is a good one if you do a lot of high ball boulder problems.

Or maybe like in small writing: if you can read this, you've bitten the dust again. Or something of that ilk.

paint it like the ground with a person shaped whole in it, or you could write encouraging things on it. "Don't fall now, you're high enough to break something" or "you look tired"

I like the bullseye idea.....or you could paint a tic-tac-toe board on it and use chalk to make you marks while you have a break....

Good ideas: Get a talented artist to draw really cool designs (sunshines, moons, etc) An optometrist test board (you know, the pyramid of letters that get smaller as you go down), then you can figure how high you are by how many lines you can read from that height. Tic-Tac-Toe board, very cool, might do that with my pad. A brick pattern (drawn on), with optional body outline. Tye-Dye the whole pad cover, making a sweet psychadelic spot to land.

i think there is a pad which comes with a bullseye already on it. i am thinking that a tasteful naked girl would be pretty cool. maybe a pinup style thing.

I've got a spider drawn on mine - it's the one Climblaw pointed out Thanks man glad you like it! It's symbolic to me, spiders climb and also I'm not keen on being too close to 3 foot across hairy spiders - so I'm not supposed to fall on her. I'd recommend you make a template out of paper. Then you can just trace it on your pad in magic marker (so black and red will likely be the colors of choice). Good Luck - Jesse

While you guys are on the topic of drawing things on your crash pad. i have a question, how does one draw on their crash pad? i'm sure you would need something water proof if you were ever in those conditions, plus if you ever take off the cover to wash it. what have you guys used? besides the magic marker idea.

as for how to actually do it i was planning on either just using permanant marker, (this is how jason kehl did his) or making a template and then spraypainting it on. you can then paint something over that to set it?

I'm not 100% positive but I think John Sherman marks a skull and cross bones on his... but its mainly to let him know which part of the pad NOT to land on, if the ground underneath is shady. Either way, a skull and cross bones is cool.

I've had my design in permanent marker (magic marker) for a couple of months. It is fading slightly, but I can always just go over it again with the pen. I have a cordless with the carpety finish and it doesn't take away the 'softeness' for cleaning my shoes on either. It is probably the easiest way.

My $.02: What about a Twister Matt design. That way, all you need to do is get the spinners and it can be multi-use Thanks

Blow up one of the pornguy.net stickers and put it on your pad. Nothing like seeing one of your childhood cartoon stars bearing all to give you that last bit of juice you need to send. If you don't know what I'm talking about, go to Portrero Chico or at least look throught he guide book for g-rated examples.
