Sorry dude 5 years is still pretty new....I was more refering to your experience on the Diamond itself-originally(I know I fumbled the words abit) but 5 years is still new. s--- I've been climbing for 11 years and I'd still call myself new!!

Sorry dude, I'm not new. I don't care what you call yourself, but I can pretty much hang in there with most folks.

I just freakin' moved here! Can't believe I already have to defend myself from slanderous buffoonery. All I wanted was a climbing partner! Or is this a rite of passage to become "one of the guys"?

Then again.. I don't really care. I just got a 93% on my Greek Final so I am untouchably three sheets to the wind right now. I'm off to pack for a long weekend of climbing with folks who are willing to rope up and actually see for themselves just how "new" I am (or am not).
Later.

zozo,
You may have already explained this but, at the bottom of your messages I see a short film clip of someone falling in a hole, it's funny but is there more to it ? Did you know the people, or go there? NBD

That is just something I found on the internet. I am in no way affiliated with either party in the undoubted lawsuit that followed.

No need to get all butt hurt, noob. Just the fact that you do shows how new you really are. Keep in mind that alot of the folks who're " willing to rope up and actually see for themselves just how 'new' I am(or am not)" are friends and partners of mine...and in fact you and I might have climbed together had you not gotten all tweaked about some good advice.

Edited to delete something not so nice...

Flamer is making a pretty good point. I see alot of people who can lead 5.10 get spanked on the Casual Route and who have no business being up on the Diamond. I would recommend many training days in the park prior to an attempt on the Diamond and you would probably want to know your partner pretty well before heading up there.

I've only been climbing for 6 years, but I doubt anyone who climbed with me would call me a noob. Also, the casual route is just that, casual (and kind of chossy). If you do the slog up there, you might as well do something fun.

Went out with Andy(Mingleefu) on Sat. and climbed Sykes Sickle, an interesting climb. To some folks disappointment no one died and we climbed it successfully. :D The weather was a little on the funky side with the clouds below us most of the day and pushing up the face at times then retreating back to the valley. I don't know what that condition is caused by...any weather experts out there?

Anyway, the wannabe thinks Andy can climb the diamond if he wants to. BTW: where are those pics Andy?

C'mon. The spectacular 100 foot traverse on jugs? The perfect corner with 200' of 5.8 hands and fingers? The wonderfully varied crux pitch? The amazing Yellow Wall bivy ledge? The hand traverse to Table Ledge with 1500' of air under your butt? Right--those were all kinda chossy and no one would ever mistake them for being fun.

What other "fun" climbs have you done up there? I've done four and the Casual was as good as any of 'em. It's one of the best 5.10 climbs in the country. And I sure don't remember anything loose.

No doubt you're a very experienced climber, but you sound like a noob to me when you diss the Casual like that....

I'm with Takeme. The Casual Route is spectacular every inch of the way. Calling it either casual or chossy is bullsh!t. If a climber can't appreciate that route, they should consider taking up another sport

No WAY? You mean he is a competent climber?! Guess there can be more than one after all. And after only 5 years?!

Any Springs climbers able to get out after work this week if the weather cooperates?

There is certainly no disappointment in no one dying or getting hurt.

And as i'm apparently the one being refered to here I'll say a thing or 2.

Sykes sickle is an excellent start.

Zozo, if you are suggesting that I think I'm the only competent climber around here than you are wrong. And if this is the kind of game you want to play than I can open some cans of worms that you won't like. If you don't like my advice and feel threatened by it well tough shit. I'm not one to blow smoke up your ass.

I think you should all remember a certain member of this site(and this thread) who almost got killed because everyone told her..."yeah go for it!! you can do it" way before she was ready.

If what's his face is a good competent climber that's great- i could care less.
The things I said were meant to be neither infammatory or derogatory....but if you can't own up[ then tough shit.

So here is something funny to break the wind in here. Someone loves me but I have no idea who it is:

http://denver.craigslist.org/mis/90219984.html

It's a good thing because the guy I was dating turned out to be a tool. I thought he wanted to marry me because I was cool but it was only because he was MORMON and liked my ovaries. Damn it!!!!!!!

Oh well, here was my weekend:

Fri night. . .go to the gym and climb 2 5.11 routes clean. Lock keys in car. Cry over stupid boy.
Sat. . .Go to gym. Cry. Dump Stupid boy. Cry. Go to gym and climb 2 more 5.11s clean.
Sun. . .Set out to climb in the Flatirons area, got kinda lost. Finally found routes after 2 hours of bushwacking. Routes were wet. I cry. But wow, the rock is really nice out in dem dare woods.

So this weekend I didn't do shit but cry and climb in the gym. How's that for hell.

Hey Vince, no rain on Sykes? I'm totally bumming. Tim and I were going to climb on Notchtop but canned the idea because it was raining out here. Crap. Anyway, good on you for doing it and for doing it under no-so favorable conditions.

This week will be way better than last!

Go get em Joshy!!!!

The casual is far from chossy....it fact it's the opposite, with the possible exception of the first 50-75ft.

The casual is an extremely good route, excellent and varied climbing over very moderate terrain. That alone makes it a worthwhile outing, but when you add in the setting...that's when things get truly classic!

Booty Alert!

As of yesterday evening, there are two almost new Trango cams on Cryogenics because I'm a wuss and had to bail. Go get 'em before someone else does.

I bought a new set in June and have already managed to fix or "donate" three of them to the dirtbag climbers' cause...

T, I beg to differ. You certainly did more than just cry and climb in the gym because I was with you on Sunday. Remember me? The whiny hiker bringing up the rear of our fearless foursome. You know, the one with the purty new blue pack that now looks like she and her pack were attacked by rabid marmots? Surely that rings a bell? Or at least a phone?

And I agree, the rock is really nice out there.

No rain on Sykes until after we were down off the climb. We were above the clouds most of the day with the system pushing in and up the face then retreating several times during the day. It rained horribly the whole hike back to the car, my feet were soaked. I hope Andy can post those pics I took with his camera, it was a beautiful Alpine setting.

This I find funny!! Cologman and I climb a route on Spearhead this summer and had a similar experience. Only in our version is was clear in the morning then the mother of all thunderstorms moved in- in the afternoon. We were the last ones to the cliff in the morning and the first ones done!! There were parties on the north ridge, 2 on the Barb, one on Sykes and us on Obviously 4 believers. Everbody except the party on sykes was off the cliff before the storm hit...we heard later that they had to rap from the roof....bummer.
There was serious lightning, rain and hail for like 3 hrs. I can't remember the last time I was that wet and cold....maybe surfing??
Sounds like you had a fun adventure.

It is a pretty hike, but I stand by my judgement of "Choss." Yellow wall and D7 both make it seem chossy. Anything in Squamish makes it seem chossy. Even stumpy lumpy makes it seem chossy. Chossorado climbers don't even notice loose blocks, or crumbly rock. Choss choss choss choss choss.
