Name: Chris Age: 23 M/F: M Location: Virginia I've only been climbing a few times, and so far indoors was better for me. But I'm more disappointed in my performance on "real rock," so I definitely want to go out and get it down pat. Trad: There weren't any bolts on the routes I toproped. ;) Sport: If a climbing gym with bolts on top can be considered "sport climbing..." Aid: Not yet, except for some caving about 10 years ago. fav. food: Spaghetti level (lead climbed): Ask me in about 3 years, and /then/ we'll talk about lead climbing. gear (basic, some, full rack and rope): A BD harness, and maybe some shoes here in a bit. fav. website: Somethingawful.com, Crank.net and (of course) RC.com weird fact about yourself: I once climbed a 50-foot tree using prusik knots; this was when I was around 12, so naturally everyone was freaked out. random comment: Pi is yummy, but people tell me that my love for it is irrational.

Rachel 21 College Place, WA. both indoor, outdoor. Trad: Yes. Sport: Yes. Aid: Not Yet, but interested! Mexican food lead: 5.9 Highest climbed is 5.9 with a 5.10 section gear: helmet, harness, shoes, locking biner, ATC (Christmas is coming...!) A favorite show: America's Next Top Model weird fact about me: hearing impaired from birth but speak like a normal person - people don't know I'm deaf unless I tell them. random comment: "L'etat c'est moi" ("The State is Me" - was said by Napoleon, I believe.) Even if, in reality, I don't really want to be a totalitarian dictator, reading about Hitler and the Holocaust is interesting. Totalitarian tendencies don't seem completely incompatible with rock climbing interests. Obsession can rock!

Name: Kyle Kirk Age: 19 Location: Austin, but at school in San Antonio until next semester. Indoor or Outdoor: both, although I don't really have a group to go climb with outdoors right now, so my chances doing so have been very slim so far. Time spent climbing: only been climbing a few months now, but since the gym is on campus I do it on a pretty much daily basis. Anybody in the Austin/SA area who wouldn't mind taking a noob out with you on trips feel free to send me a message, it would be much appreciated as I'm too much of an outdoorsman to spend the rest of my days indoors.

Hey Everyone, As a first post I thought it appropriate to give a quick intro. I've been climbing for about 15 years, and with the exception of ice, I've been obsessed with all other types at one point or another. I started out 100% trad, not even knowing what a bolt was for about 3 years. (Thank you Gunks!) Then eventually discovered sport climbing, and then the gym. I started climbing in the Gunks, then moved out to MN after high school, and that's where I found bolted climbing at Red Wing. After college I got a job up at Nicros in St. Paul, then started working at VE as well. After 3 years at VE, my wife and I moved out to Vegas for her residency, where I like to think we climbing everything worth climbing within a two hour walk from the car. And I discovered I enjoyed bouldering. Then we moved to Denver, and at the same time I did a 6 month gig out in NYC working for De La Guarda (where I worked at the RIO in Vegas). I climbed over at Chelsea Piers 2-3 times a week, and up at the Gunks again every Monday and Tuesday. Then back in Denver I stated routesetting again at Rockn&Jamn, then actually was crazy enough to go full time as a manager with Chris, then had enough of that (and a baby (well, my wife had the baby)) and went back to just setting (under the same alias "Gonz") until about a year ago, when we left to come back to MN for my wife's work. And now I'm a stay at home Dad with a killer 2 year old, and I don't get a chance to climb much anymore since we're about 1.5 hours from VE, and 2 year olds are not conducive to climbing. Routesetting was probably my favorite part of climbing at the gyms, and for a while I was really into it, did alot of setting for Nicros at their Lifetime walls, as well as setting comps for all three VE's, and the both R&J's in Denver. I also enjoy telemark skiing, working on our house, and fine cigars and scotch. And look forward to living/climbing vicariously though this website. And sharing any knowledge I've accumulated over the years. Thanks!

Your right, but I put it here anyway just to piss you off! Actually, I figured if there was a specific thread just for newbies it would have been here, or there would be an actual sub-forum just for such intros, and since I didn't see one I posted here. I would not have assumed it was in the "begginer" forum, since I'm sure not all new members here are beginners.
