As long as it works as well as you say, and you change the colors, I'm all for it.

I actually like the way things are now. I am sure the new system will work better for the admins but when I clicked on the link I thought I was on the yahoo home page. Yahoo/prodigy/sbc or whoever they are now absolutely sucks and I thought I was having a nightmare when I saw the new forums page! Like I said, keep things the way they are and if things change, I will probably learn to like the new system.

fiend, im not going to get in a pissing match over your personal dislike for PTPP. the fact is I have not seen anything in the forums saying that PTPP should be banned. just the opposite is occuring in another thread where many users are requesting a forum because of the vast amount of aid climbing knowledge learned. i will agree that i do not see all the things that go on behind the scenes as you and rradam do, however the question that was asked was " I would like to get some feedback, let me know what you think" therefore i was voicing my opinion to this. this is a great site, and i thank you and the other administrators for giving me the ability to voice my opinion. i know you will do what is in the best interest of users here, thanks again, Len

This is not the place to discuss ptpp or him getting a forum, I'll be happy to discuss this via pm if you wish wallhammer, or just let me know which forum you'd like to discuss it in case you want to keep it public.

The new format looks great. The ability to PM other members and the post times in GMT are good additions. You will be keeping GMT in the final version wont you?...

Please institute it! (For those with questions / comments about the look of it - as trevor said the whole look and feel could changed any way desired - it's the functionality he wants us to review). The SEARCH IS BACK!!!! (Soon we can actually see if what we're posting has already been done 1000 times)

This is going to be seen outside RC.com right?? meaning that you won't be able to navigate through the site from the forum using the regular menu?? Or is it going to appear in the usual frame??? besides, its JUST LIKE escalada@pt, a portuguese rockclimbing forum... now i'm gonna get really confused and not be able to tell where i am...

I'm messing with some of the basic colors to make it easier to read, check it out and let me know what you think. Link again: http://www.rockclimbing.com/bb

It's starting to look better and I'm fooling around with some features like avatars (which you can't activate yet) and colors. I created a test forum which you should feel free to use and play with when evaluating the new setup. Don't forget, you use your regular rockclimbing.com username and password to log in at the bottom of the index, or you will be prompted to login if you try to reply or start a new topic. Have fun

Can you look at this color scheme? One of RC.com's old color scheme had this desert look. Also, I have always associated lots of climbing areas with this desert look. Another good thing is that no major climbing site has the same color palatte. http://www.phpbb.com/styles/styles_demo/index.php?s=17

I think that the "Desert Storm" color scheme is a step in the right direction. It is less bleak than the first one you showed us. I still think that you could find something with a warmer, friendlier feel to it. -Jay

Please, for the love of all that is holy, do not enable the avatars.. "Thou shalt not follow the NULL pointer, for chaos and distruction awaits at it's end." - d.

Mark, The blue lettering is hard to read, and the grey backround is ... icky. Trevor, I couldn't see your example (can not find server) ironic, eh? Thanks for your efforts though. Jeff

I like everything about it except for the profiles. I think there should be more of the "older style" implemented here.

I like the new design and layout. From the main forums list, I think the View Latest Post icon is not really clear. You might just replace it w/ "View Latest Post" text that you can click. That's a nice feature. I also agree w/ another commenter that if the grey background were lighter, it would be easier to read the text there (needs a little more contrast). Overall, the aesthetics are better than the current. It feels more clean and modern and sharp.

I'm all for the "e-mail like PMs". I can rarely remember if I responded to a PM and when I get a "Reply" instead of "Reply with quote" back a week later, it is difficult to remember what I wrote. Blah..it's too early. Basically, I'd like to have a function to see the PMs I've sent. "Thank you fer yer support"

I'm fairly sure you can save outgoing PM's with this version. As to the 'current' colors (forum seems to be down) I wasn't happy with them either and I was getting annoyed with figuring out HTML colors so I just left it as it was, at least you can see the scroll bars now Getting this message today though: Quote:phpBB : Critical Error Could not obtain lastvisit data from user table DEBUG MODE SQL Error : 1146 Table 'climb.bb2_users' doesn't exist SELECT * FROM bb2_users WHERE user_id = 9648 Line : 62 File : /usr/www/apache/vhost/climb/htdocs/bb/includes/sessions.php *edit* Re: Avatars, I don't think we should allow users to just link to any avatar, but if we can work it so that the thumbnail from the user's profile shows up as an avatar then we can assure that we approve all avatars. We are now working on the "real" version here: http://beta.rockclimbing.com/forums/ There are lots of changes we have to do to get phpBB2 to work with RC.com and vica versa. Trevor

Is it possible to use a larger font? Maybe I'm getting REALLY old, but the small type is kind of hard to read...
