All we have is real rock to climb on, hahaha! Southern Illinois is crazy like that I guess. Would love to go around and compete maybe.

Hi all--
This is Angie, also with the ABS/USA Climbing. It seems like there is a great deal of interest in forming some sort of collegiate bouldering series. Over the past month I have been speaking with various colleges throughout the country about joining such a series hosted by the ABS/USA Climbing. This series is still in the beginning stages, but we are trying to sign up colleges ASAP for next season. By joining, schools will have easy access to other universities and the schedule of competitions. We're very psyched to help pull such a series together, so please contact us if we haven't already contacted you.
Thanks,
Angie

So these possible College boudering comp series, are they going to be done in one basic area or are they going to be nation wide like the ABS comps are? I'm just curious, becuase I go to school in the UP at Michigan Tech and we have a club. I'm not sure of the interest, but if would be fun to be able to have an area where comps can be posted for colleges. If you don't know, my school is located in the middle of nowhere so its hard to get anywhere without a monstrous drive!

The collegiate series will be nation-wide and will run just like the regular ABS series, but will be open to college students only. However, if universities currently hold competitions that are open to the general public, there are other options for different types of competitions. I have spoken once to a person at Michigan Tech and am currently trying to get in contact with them again. If you are the person to whom I should speak about this, please feel free to e-mail me for more info.
Thanks,
Angie

I'm from UGA, and there is at least one bouldering comp every year at the school. There was a group from our wall that made the 8-9 hour drive to Ohio state for that comp (I didnt go, probably should have though). If there was a circuit I am almost positive that we could get a group from Georgia to join it. I know I would willing to climb it.

I am an officer of the University of Miami (Florida- not Ohio) Climbing Club. We just started up two years ago and every semester we get more dedicated members. We climb at X-treme Rock Climbing and they host several comps a year. We've thought about having a comp, but to be honest, just about everyone in our club is at about the same level, no one really boulders or leads, and no one has shown any interest at all for having a comp. But...I think that can change and it's a great idea. I'de love to get involved. I know FAU (Florida Atlantic Universty) has a club too. I also work at the climbing gym, and I think I'de be able to convince them to host. So, let me know what you think. My email address is y.guller@umiami.edu.
