I can't believe all the incorrect prattle in here. They're just hazing you kid. THe answer is clearly .13b, .13c if you're 5'11 or taller. sheesh.

Hilarious. Useless, but hilarious. I'm a 5.11A runner! "How did you do in your last marathon?" "5.11A" "Huh?" Running is THE optimum sport for training-obsessed numbers chasers IMO. If those elbows ever give out, y'all can buy a stopwatch and some cushier shoes. The trauma inflicted by running is an entirely different beast in my opinion. The dedication required would probably be more applicable. And, come to think of it, both have a very similar "weak" vs. "strong" debate going on aka the "jealous" vs. "insecure" debate :)

Ummm, I will be running my 4th marathon next month and I will (hopefully) complete it in under 4 hours. And my best lead sport send is about a 5.9+ (but getting better every week). I hope my comments help...but I really don't understand comparing the two. I have to agree with the person who posted that it was like comparing apples to oranges...

that is more like it! although you probobly also say 5,000ft of 5.8 and still be fairly aplicable especialy if the climber sprints on tens so their distace would be more of a 5,8 pace. If the climber sprints on 12s then their distance pace would be 5.10....

I've run marathons and climbed 5.11. It took me a lot longer to get strong enough to climb 5.11 than it did to run the marathons. I would contend that running a marathon is more about training and pain endurance, while climbing hard is more about natural ability and skill development. One might compare climbing 5.13 to dunking a basketball. It doesn't matter how hard I train or how much pain I can endure, I'll never be able to dunk a basketball. I'm too short and white. But anyone can run a marathon if they have the perserverence and patience. It may take them ten hours, but it can be done. I'll never dunk like MJ. Never.
