My own contribution: Forbbiden kingdom: How can a film with Jet Li and Jackie Chan be so bad? Shoot em up: Definetely watch it if your in the mood for a completely unbelievable action film. Hilarious.

PTFTW! To understand the kind of action you can expect from shoot em up, the fellow kills a baddy with a carrot in the first five minutes. Eat your vegetables. ROTFL

Just arguing a nerdish point ;) I'm fairly sure it's the brit, not indiana's father (Henry?) who made that comment.

churningindawake wrote: Has anyone seen Babylon AD yet? Was kinda hoping it would be more along the lines of Pitch Black and not Chronicles of Riddick. What little I have read makes it sound a little long on choppy action sequences and short on directing/writing though. Probably wait for video on this one. Definitely going to see Brideshead Revisited though.

The Orphanage: Not a horror film but a great ghost story. Kite Runner: Not as good as the book but well done. Even if you don't read the book I recommend the movie. As for Shoot 'Em Up....what a piece of crap. I can handle "over the top" action films (i.e. aliens in Indiana Jones) but this one was pure idiocy, not to mention the shitty acting. d.

How and the hell did it get that cast anyway? I watched it hoping for mediocrity atleast, because of those involved in the production. Total POS for sure.

Watched In Bruges the other night. I highly, highly recommend. One of the single funniest movies I have ever seen, actually I havent laughed that much at a movie since Super Bad. Funny as hell but it also has a great script, characters and lots of violence. Oh and dont moan just because it has Colin Farrell in cast. Hes actually rather under rated as an actor, just watch A Home at the End of the World/Miami Vice.

The general plot line was novel but it was too short and they didn't develop any of the subplots or characters. It had alot of potential really but it felt like who ever directed it just wanted to get it over with. Think Blade Runner but with the production quality of 2fast2furious. Anyway, worth watching and has two hot female leads. Only real complaint is that the ending was weak and probably not what the writer was hoping for, kinda felt like a studio ending.

Just finished watching The Obscure Object of Desire - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0075824/ Interesting movie and completely dedicated to telling the story a certain way. I love watching movies that deal with brutal emotional and social issues with no pretense of a sugar coating. Definitely for the "arthouse" crowed but as far as Brunuel's work goes, it was pretty light on the surreal. Really just the story of an emotionally unstable girl (played by two different women) and the cruel "love" affair she has with a wealthy older man. Some overt if not insightful sociopolitical commentary kept if from being slow or one track and the perky bodies of two sexual neophytes are on full display throughout.

For something similar you should check out Ordinary Decent Criminal - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0160611/ Coincidently enough it has Colin Farrell in it also but his part is relatively small. One of many great things about this movie is that the main character is a committed polygamist and the relationship is portrayed as both normal and functional. Cant say that have ever seen that subject matter dealt with in such a casual and matter of fact way, with no pretense or without it being a plot device. Anyway, my infatuation with the potentialy idyllic nature of multiple partner relationships aside, the movie was funny as hell, a good crime caper and well produced. You should rent it, you will like.
