I do blow dry my hair and it has absolutely zero impact on my climbing or my love for it. Gah, I hate it when bf's pull the "Girls who care about their appearance must suck at outdoor activities." The two are not mutually exclusive. Makeup is usually the target in my case though. Ugh and comparing you to ex's? Honestly, ignore him and blow dry your hair. You have to know deep down that doing things that make yourself feel attractive and good about yourself have nothing NOTHING to do with climbing or your competence at them.

Go buy the book, Why Men Marry Bitches. It'll give you good advice on this situation. It's a great read!

I'm at the Red right now with my BF joking about how I AM kindve a bitch lol. Sorry that book sounds like a massive generalization. The best dating advice? Be yourself and find someone who loves you the way you are and do WTF you want and likewise for your partner.

I never blow dry my hair (I have the feeling it really damages the tips of the hair, causing them to split, etc, so I just let it air dry, even when going out to a fancy place and want to look great), but that being said it sounds like your boyfriend is a bit of a dork or was having a moody episode that day about something else.

I mean, whether you blow dry or not your hair is YOUR business, not his. I mean, if he wants a girlfriend that spends some time taking care of herself and her appearance, prettyfying herself to go out, then the last thing he should do is tell her how she should do it.

I would find myself a boyfriend that loves me for who I am, hairdryer or not hairdryer. I mean, you don't go around correcting him on his choice of brand of shampoo or deodorant or soap, right? So why should he care how you groom yourself?

That being said, though, clearly he was not commenting on the hairdryer, per se. He was commenting in reality about how long it took you to get ready. Here he may be right, if it turns out that you had agreed to be ready at x time but due to your beauty rituals you were delaying the departure time. If this was the case then you have no one to blame but yourself: this is not the hairdryer's fault but your inability to plan your time appropriately.

Either way, if you cannot plan your time, thus irritating your boyfriend, or you can and he makes stupid hairdryer comments because he doesn't know how to express his irritation at the real issue that bothers him, it doesn't sound like a healthy dynamic. Surely there are better ways to address issues that may be cropping up between you in the future?Unsure
