mr_phelps-
hmm...complaining about his complaining about something that you deem to be not worthy of complaining about
i don't see how that makes sense

Now that's funny and worth reading.

Baywolf,

I guess "purely egotistical" is a bit harsh, but it's still relevant.

For me I would rather be leading(be it sport or trad) than TR because, well TR just doesnt do it for me anymore.

How would you describe your statement then? You are wanting to place bolts because TR doesn't do anything for you.

Don't get me wrong here, I'm all for bolting and see no harm in it. I was just looking at it from a different perspective. Bolts are simply not required if you have TR access. Yes, they are wanted, but not required.

What makes you so high and mighty, baywolf? Are you the God of forums and everything else? I suspose you know all and have never just put in your two cents or been redundant. Go ahead and give me some static on this, many do because of my obscene post count. I don't make a stink of post counts though, I'm not that small minded. Besides the point.

I don't see a point with that comment. That is something that I would say. If you can TR it, why ruin it with bolts? It's stupid to drill just to try and justify a person's unfounded needs. Especially if the person doesn't think a TR is a legitimate form of accent, because it is. Not everything needs to have a stupid line of bolts. I don't agree with bolting, but I see its necessity when you are 1000 feet up and you run out of crack. I don't see it when the route is 70 feet and there are trees to sling, boulders to sling, cracks to place gear in for anchors. There are a lot of climbing areas, not everything has to be bolted. If it is top ropable, then top rope it. If you want to lead, go somewhere else. It's that easy. Unless, top roping is above you. If that's the case, get a life.

I do all three.

Top rope mainly because our local crag is short. Trad as much as and when I can. Sport only if I have to. Why sport only if I have to? Because if I'm going to lead, I want to place gear. It's fun and I like the traditional style of climbing.

Do you see anything wrong with that statement now? Now that I have explained it more thoroughly? I don't, but I don't like to ruin the rock because top roping is above me. I'm not that shallow. (not to say you are--they are)
