Yeah, stay at La Posada. It was great when I went. I left my pack in the kitchen there for a couple days and noone touched it. I was not concerned at all about theft there. Also make sure to eat in the restaurant there at least one night because the owner and his wife make some amazing food for like 45 pesos for the entire meal. Orlando is the man. peace out.

some more beta... you can totally survive without a car once you get there. I didn't even buy insurance last time, since it would have just been for four hours of total driving. not worth it, in my opinion. also, I'd go with the Posada or Pagoda. Gilberto at Pagoda watches out for you, and I've never heard of breakins there. Homero's is the place to hang out, but not to camp. The restaurant there is better than Checo's when Patty is running it; she was over christmas, not sure if she still is. Also, Homero leased out his campground to this dude from New York that is kind of a tool.

La posada rules, just beside checo´s and the closest to the crag. pretty cheap, $4 a night in your tent and about $20 a night in a room. Nice people from all over the world, at least in late december/early january.
