Dude. Dude. You cannot use "All Your Base" in this situation. And besides, like most of the good Internet jokes, it all started . . . with Fark.com. Don't even pretend to make it yours. Here comes the science!

Stop the presses! Does this mean I can use toy biners for aid climbing, as long as I don't balloon past 279? Those things will go nicely with my tent-peg pitons.

well, I guess I should stop using the toy biners to climb with. I mean, I thought they were just really cheap alternatives to the real thing.

Yes, but only use the yellow plastic tent pegs, my testing has shown they do not fatigue like the metal ones...instead they bend which adds a nice dynamic effect should your toy biner let go. Not only that but the yello adds a nice spot of color on your rack.

In reply to: Maculated, The picture in your signature takes on a whole new dimension in light of this thread. Josh imagine having to clean that beast though. i'd probably just leave the thing and claim that it was overfed and fixed. ps-- josh, when are you going to cut work/classes and climb friday in red wing?

Well duh  you're supposed to use TWO 'biners in that situation!! Who's gonna do that test? Oh and I guess this means you shouldn't use all your base for climbing either.

Oh come now, Fargoan. The beast likes you. You wouldn't leave her fixed, not with that cute little face! And, duh, people. Why do you think I always have her clipped to a daisy chain? Indespensible in aid climbing!!! I even took her to Moab to help out with the towers.

I needed a good laugh, that really did it for me, Has to be the funniest short, pointless thread I had the chance to stumble on on RC.COM, and that, from the very beginning to the very end. Good job guys. I think this thread should be locked right here and now and than canonized forever as a classic.

Not only that but the yello adds a nice spot of color on your rack. I forgot to mention... I just use those metal thingys off the top of Christmas ball ornaments for all of my sketchy hook moves. They come in really handy... since whenever you need to replace a head, all you have to do as shove a wad of 2 day old chewing gum on the end of the wire... viola! :D By the way... am I the only one who uses three #19 rubber bands (used in parallel, of course) in lieu of Yates Screamers? :? I haven't heard of one, single, solitary incident of these failing, so they must be fine.

Wow so I guess I shouldn't have been using those keychain biners and the cheap yellow rope for climbing eh? Although since I use duct tape gloves for better grip I think I'll be ok. Not to mention all the helium balloons (sp) I tape to my butt in case I fall (they also help you make it up the route faster). And for the record, it is best to use de-clawed k9s when climbing.

All the rest of the stuff listed above is ok and I can personally certify it's safety...but that yellow rope I would never trust.

I usually don't even bother with a harness. Those belt loops are plenty strong for tying in to.
