Armstrong Pull-Up Program I've always been able to do 10-15, and tried this for two weeks before summer vacation got me sidetracked. I didn't improve my maximum number, but it gave me that good sore feelin'. Though, I'd take grip-strength over being able to do 10+ pull-ups.

In reply to: OK Brutus, fill in the blanks: "Heavy emphasis on climbing offwidths & chimneys can in the long run be very unhealthy for the _____ and ______." I could do 3 pullups last time I tried (about 6 months ago). That's why I like granite instead of overhung limestone... LOL! NO DOUBT!

In reply to: BTW- Does anyone know what difference in which muscles are worked out and strength gain from pullups vs. chinups vs. rockrings (both palms facing your ears) Pulls ups work the chest and tris as well as assorted shoulder/back areas. Chinups work bis primarily. Note: this comes only from my experience and what my 6th grade gym teacher told me.

In reply to: In reply to: In a row, palms out on the bar, 30. At intervals doing hand-jam-pull ups in my hand jam contraption, 300 in 60 minutes. Intervals work wonders for endurance. Holy crap. You can do that many pull ups and you had to aid the 5.11 section on the P1 variation of Lightning Bolt Cracks? Dude, stop doing pull ups and start working on your technique. Thanks, I needed that. 8) I have not figured out how to ringlock in perfectly parallel off-finger cracks on steep terrain. I've read books and jammed those fingers in there but they just don't stick. I'm a bit rough with it.

I don't think it's inportant how many you can do. If you are on a route outside, way above your last pro, it's mental strenght that counts now physical.

I am usually bored at work so in looking for something to do I find different things to do pull-ups on. This usually results in pull-ups on door trim. I work in a warehouse (Sears) so my hands are usually dirty, so you can see spots all over the store where I have been because of the black streaks on the walls. But to answer the question ~20 consecutively and a lot taking short breaks.

well i can do about 8 at the moment, have slacked off a bit recently though. Its true though - guys (non climbers) are hopeless - i love challenging a guy to a set on the bar. Nothing like deflating an ego now and then

I found out the other night that i can do 26 at once...that's my max so far on a bar with palms facing out. But yeah, the two finger pullups are my favorite..get on the "simulator" and hit the smallest pockets..it ROCKS, i can do like 5 that way, but my fingers feel like they're going to break after that. Can't do any of the one armed pullups yet...but one of my climbing buddies can do 3 on each arm. And yeah, i weigh 145, and strapped on 60 pounds and could still pull of three pullups on the big jugs...but that's the max weight I've tried.... I wanna hear about someone doin' som dynos with extra weight..that's where the mega power is at... :D
