This is definitely a ridiculous action to change the name of this thread. Finally an interesting topic to read as far as i've seen. I had thought kodos changed it just so people who understand his point but apparently someone with nothing to say themselves had to dick around with it and ruin the original intent and turn it into some rc.comdrama between users and mods.
I've seen much more "offensive titles" on the site and i just don't get it.
this is a more personal vendetta.
Yes the Gunks does "technically" reside within the borders of a town called Gardiner, and also extends north into the town of High Falls, but everyone who knows lumps it all as New Paltz. Don't get all frittery shakylegs, you can be as anal as you are. 8)

Why is hard for poeple to acceopt that someone actually writes the jokes?
I mean all things we say have to come from an origin source. Why are people so threatened by this?
As a professional rhetorician, I make a living following the etymologies of words and phrases. Like the discussuin we had on petard and the quote hoist by his own petard. Are people such as shakylegs that isiotic to think that no one actually said it first, and that it just spontaneously generated?
Hanging out with the Vulgarians exposed my to much new language and lingo, and I would certainly not take credit for anything ither than what I actually said. I never said no one said it before me, but the phrase was not in use anywhere else but the gunks for a long time.
Those in the know, know that much climbing lingo came from the gunks. Most of the words used at the crags today came form the minds of a few select group of special people that I lived with, climbed with and worked with.
It is nasty when someone with less than four years experience wants to dismiss history or call me liar and so few people pipe in and tell the moron to pack it because his head is up his derriere.
I remeber exactly where I was and who I was with when I first said it, and that person has also confirmed this event.
It is not so important, but it has been a running joke among some of us for many years, and when it was finally published and credited to Mr Gottlieb, we had a good laugh about it.
Either way, I want to thank Shakylegs for ruining a great experience for me by pushing my buttons effectively by playing the little jerk. Remember buddy, climbing is a smaller community than you realize just yet.
It has been swell.
