Country by the crag. It didn't used to be that way, but I've grown pretty accustomed to life in the best town on Earth. I don't see any reason to ever leave Fayetteville. Edit: PTFTW!

munky wrote: I'll have to admit living at the New would be great. If I could land a teaching job nearby I would probably make the move. But I do have my doubts. I took a year doing the roadtripping thing, living nomadic, seeing the country, climbing, hiking, camping, blah, blah, blah. But after that year I was done. I wanted stability. I wanted a couch, a tv, a hot shower that I didn't have to pay for and worry about whose grungy feet have been in there before me. Most of all, I missed comforts of suburban america. Ok I said it. Now, living in Fayetteville would be great for awhile. I could climb whenever I wanted, explore the trails there and not know what the next turn brings, I could check out the latest gear and try on just about any climbing shoe I wanted at Waterstone. Hell, I might even begin to shoot the shit with the locals at the shop, maybe even smoke me a cigarette or two in front of the shop to fit in. BUT, you know, I wonder if I would miss suburban life. I might miss having the choice of any restaurant to eat in, or city zines, or good punk rawk music, or drifting around the mall and seeing the Victoria Secret Angels adorning the windows of the shop. I would even miss the style, the diversity, the climbing gym (oh my, did I really say that). I know this is a ramble of nonsense, but I guess the point is, If you could put the NRG within 45 minutes of the suburban sprawl would you still live in the country near the crag, or would you live in the sprawl and commute to the crag? Oh! The angst of the maturing urban climber! I live in Salt Lake City, 10 minutes from the bottom of Big Cottonwood Cyn (quartzite) and maybe 15 minutes to the bottom of Little Cottonwood Cyn. (granite). Weird liquor laws aside, i love living here. Having a stable domestic situation & an income, with day-tripping to good rock, skiing, mtn biking, etc, really is ideal. And when I need a road trip, I can always make one happen. Its just, sometimes I do miss being totally free. And I know I still am, but I have a little boy and we love our home, dogs, his friends & school, so my choices center on stability. I've had many days of backcountry freedom. This is good, for now. But lets get back to business. Nobody answered NA's runout question

The cat that loves his/her master and is always around your ankles and in your lap. or The cat that you only see when you feed it and the twice a week it allows you 5 min. of petting time.

Thai or chinese? Definitely Chinese. high paying job day's drive from climbing that will give you money to pay for climbing trips, but will not allow you easy access to the crag or crap paying job that allows you easy access to local crag, but no money for more extensive trips.

This question is recurrent or too similar to other ones I'll go with crap paying job. Even having money I'd end up not traveling on the weekends. I can see my self traped into errands and events I have to stay in town for. Regular 9h~18h +extra hours mon~fri job without a chance of climbing on week days. Leaving you with the choice of weekend climbs on packed loud crags, waiting on the base of routes, any route, But ALWAYS have a partner or working on weekends with more then 48 hours free during the week you could use to climb empty crags but ALWAYS having a hard time to find a partner and eventually not finding one.

Windows- what is this 1980s? After a long, hard climb (multiple pitches, approach, the whole deal): 6 pack of your favorite beer to split w/ partner, but no food other than a jar of peanuts or NO BEER or alcohol whatsoever but a great big meal

knowledge is useless without wisdom. 45 min drive to grandma's house with a car load of screaming brats or 4 hr drive to the closest thing with anything resembling a ski-lift?
