Well folks... it's time for me to say "see you later".

After more than 2 years in Germany, and many pitches on Frankenjura limestone and the Bayerisherwald granite (not to mention the occasional sojourn to the alps), I am returning to Australia.

My partner and I have spent most of the last week packing up the house. The climbing gear is loaded into the A5 haul bag and in a 20' container on the way to Bremerhafen (along with the rest of our stuff!).

I'd like to thank you all for the great conversation here (the past 6 weeks excluded!), the great stories, and the inspiration.

A special shout-out goes to steady_climbing for being a great mate and a great partner. If you guys ever get the chance to climb with him, you will have a great time.

So... if any of you find your self in Australia, and in Canberra in particular, drop me an email or a PM and we can do some granite climbing at Gibraltar Peak or Booroomba Rocks

Sad times I must say :( The climbing was great, the conversations were better, but the companionship was top of the line. Your a stand up guy, and it was a pleasure to share those pitches with you.

So long, and farewell. UNTIL OUR PATHS CROSS AGAIN (THEY WILL)!

I will be in touch within the next few days..

Thomas,
I see you have visited Sicily. What are the "kevlar threads" they recommend in the climbing guide and how does one use them?
Thanks.

I am not thomasribiere, and I haven't been specifically to Sicilly, but I have climbed quite a bit in Europe, and would imagine they are simply referring to a small V-thread.
Kinda like this:

Kevlar is generally sold in 5.5-6mm diameter though, so you can thread very small holes with a single strand.
Like these guys are doing here in ice:
