Fowler, Go do your thing - but don't get too sucked into the trip any more than is necessary to get the job done right. When and if it gets real while you're there follow your instincts first, orders second, and don't be afraid to get in anyone's face if they're starting to make bad decisions for you and your crew. SNAFU is a universal military experience and does get people killed. And particularly in an IED-laden environment stay on your toes, keep a sharp eye open at all times, and think for yourself - you may save more lives than your own. How are you and your outfit set for armor and gear?

No idea yet. I just got my orders last friday so I have to do the whole reinprocess thing again. 25 days after May 7 I should be assigned to a real Unit and find out then. My only up side is my rank I am a SGT so I will still prob hear some crazy orders but at least I know how to stand up to them. Thanks for all the support. Climb on

Best of luck out there and thanks for all you do. Instead of tree hugging you could find a few good ones to climb. It might just give you the fix you need untill you get back on the rock. Dave

have some respect man. just because you don't agree with what is politically going on in the country doesn't mean that you need to personally bag on the guy for doing what he thinks is right. i may not agree with everything going on but i have the utmost respect for people choosing to enroll. and about the "idiot" making him do it. it's not a draft. he chose to enroll in the army, yeah, may not be his choice right know to go back out, but it was initially. respect people's choices and beliefs. respect the fact that he is doing what he thinks is right, you don't have to agree with it, but show some maturity and accept the fact that not everyone agrees with you.

Soo, adding an M16 and some hand grenades to your trad rack now? lol I had two brothers in Vietnam. One one a river patrol boat and the other flying supplies around the country. I understand your dilemma very well Best of luck, be safe, and tell us all great stories when your return! Good job.

In reply to: a human rights record better than what we have--at this point, the us has killed more iraqies than saddam ever did. worst. president. ever. I have to call BS on the first part of this statement....how about Saddam's war with Iran & the Kurdish massacres? The second part....well, that becomes harder & harder to deny every day... To fowler (& back on topic) - I'll tell you the same thing I told my nephew - the two-tour Marine who's on his way Stateside this weekend - Keep your eyes open, your vest closed, and if it comes to it, do it to them before they do it to you....Good luck, to you & your comrades, and THANK YOU for your willingness to serve & your sacrifices
