What happened to Community?

Can't Post

Back in the day people were responding to threads so fast you couldn't get a post in edgewise. Hundreds of posts per hour at all hours of the day. WTF happened? Where did everybody go? Is the whole site like this now? Has the Golden Age just passed? I want answers now, dammit.

Too many people flooded the forum with Woe is me threads about how much they hate their lives and that they have nothing worth living for. Save their well paying American jobs, house with indoor plumbing and iPads. It got to a point where everyone was posting such noise and nobody was left to console them, tell them what a great person they are, and give them a gold star. Eventually, without the kind words of strangers through the internet, everyone killed themselves. Now we're left with the dregs of the forums, and most of us don't care to deal with it. So unless you post something we can ridicule or come up with a witty one-liner off, we're not going to respond.

I don't think AB would actually do that. It would be great if he did, but I doubt that he'd actually do it.

You need to grease each word with salt and lard.

Hey Jules!

This site has become a post-apocalyptic wasteland, where either you are completely alone, or roving hordes jump out and mock you. Think Mad Max. The only safety is in autonomous anarcho-syndicate collectives such as Sty's Post Count Increaser.

Basically, the key here now is to kick someone's ass, or become someone's bitch.

Wait wait wait. It just sunk in. RC.com has become boldering.com circa 2003?

Remember little colin? Unlikely. He moderated "comp climbing" or something like that for a few years. I met him here in 2001 when we were 13 and 15. He later defected to b.com, and we wound up living together for four years (with Lox living with us for two of them). Internets: a series of weird, weird tubes.

Yeah, I think I remember Colin. Never met him in real life. I met Lox a couple times in Hueco and TexAss, not sure if he remembers me, though.

I just went and clicked a random thread on b.com to see what it was like. Looks like Lox ha gotten nice in his old age.

I think that Angry's prank of responding to four pages worth of old coffee shop threads in one morning also really helped drive the EC5.7M crew away.
