It doesn't work that way, at least when you want to get really lean. When you do more exercise your body asks for more fuel. Maybe if you're really big just exercise can help, but if you're already slim then you just eat more and if you love eating then you'll probably eat more than you need. The first winter I started running I gained 10lbs.

Not sure what to do with myself though this weekend. Shoulder season sucks.

Yeah, I walked to work today, and I haven't worn crampons! And the snow piles on the sides of the driveway have decreased to the point where I can see over them again. So psyched about outdoor climbing!

If there is one thing I know, it's blort.

Though I'm down 12 lbs in the past 4 weeks. Much of that was a drastic diet change and now I'm kicking in biking. This week will mark my first week of commuting via bike. That, along with social rides, and workout rides on the weekends should beat my body into burning the excess again.

Went climbing Sunday; when it warmed up we left. Got home and went for a 17 mile ride. Felt good to be able to do that again.

Also, my knees like it much better than running. Which was/is the sux.

So I decided to try to start running again last week even though I still don't have full range of motion with my ankle returned yet. Just on the threadmill, slow speeds, not for very long.

Ran 15min today between 6 and 6.5mph. I know that's still not fast, but it felt good! Hopefully I didn't overdo it!

Isn't that what I just said, it's super hard to do it with exercise alone, you need to adjust your diet. Also, biking is fantastic for losing weight because you can be on a bike for a long time and you typically eat very little when you're out for a ride.

I was shocked when I weighed in a 146.5lbs this morning, I was at almost 150lbs last week. I need to start tracking a little closer, because most of that is probably because of hormonal monthly stuff. I would like to get down to 140lbs this summer, but 143lbs is a good working weight for me.

Definitely. The easiest and quickest way to lose weight is to just cut calories and keep up with otherwise regular training routines.

I'm a bit heavier than I want to be right now (163 instead of 156), and am just tracking calories and eating no simple carbs or excessive fats/sugars. It's been fairly easy, because Diogi's is closed (may be for good!), and I don't have the constant temptation of chips and margaritas, heh.

Really good getting-back-into-it seshes over the last three days, even though all the snow melting has drenched 90% of the routes here. Just trying to do volume and endurance, but I'm only able to do it on about 12c routes right now. Hopefully will get back up to 13 shape in the next month and a half.

what was the diet change? i definitely have the winter blort, no touring snowshoeing and too much couchsurfing. can't wait to get back on the bike.

What a quiet bunch of gerks! Shame, shame!

I touched some rocks this weekend. They were wet on Saturday, and dry on Sunday. I am weke. And I have more suntan than I planned on having.

Holly cow, it was 65F and sunny. And yes, we went to a sunny crag even though we knew it was going to be hot and sunny, because we wanted dry rock. So did everyone else. The end.

P.S., it was actually a fun climbing day, even though I suck at climbing.

Sucking at climbing is okay, because in a month or two you will no longer suck at climbing.

I went drytooling on Saturday. The first route we warmed up on we probably shouldn't have gotten on, it was hollow and spooky. Really needs to be frozen together. The other two routes weren't too bad. One was a M-hardforme last year and it was rad when I sent it then. This year it wasn't too bad (I think some of the hold have gotten better too though).

The second route is a M-hardforme this year. Awesome because I'm not convinced I would have been able to pull all the moves last year. I went up once figuring it out, and the second time I hung a bunch because I was totally worn out, but I got some linkage. Did all the moves, hoping to get back there next weekend to get on it again.

My arms still hurt though today. I had more tryhard going than I thought I had on Saturday.

I missed out on good conditions and got fatter and weaker. I did win both a game of Clue though, and Settlers of Catan. So there's that. Just did a morning gym sesh, haven't climbed plastic in3 weeks. Skin hurts now. Better get to work!

I was going to mention my ankle, but yes good! Still taped lightly on Saturday, but went out again on Sunday locally. Just showing to people interested in drytooling a few things, easy day, but didn't tape up at all! Sweet!

Don't get me wrong, I still don't have full ROM and I'm not about to start running on icy streets, but I think (hope?) I'm seeing improvement. I think part of it is I'm trying to do a bit more yoga at home which may be helping with strengthening and light stretching.

It's not like you guys know M grades anyway (I'm not sure if I really understand them either). This is far more descriptive for everyone involved.
