Has anyone seen John Rosholt (gambler) recently? This is a fairly recent photo of John. John has been a regular climbing fixture here in Arizona and he has also climbed extensively in many other areas. John has been missing since January. His sister called me tonight seeking information as to his whereabouts. If you have any idea where John may be, please either post it here--or PM me. Thanks. Curt (edited to fix link to photo)

Curt: You might wish to put information on where he was last known to be and a phone number for any authorities involved. God Bless him and his family. This has to be terribly difficult. Pray that he is found safe.

I have been calling his house for about 4 months and have quadruple checked to make sure it is the correct number. I have left numerous messages. John and I are friends but maybe we should have the Scottsdale Police go check on his residence. He lives alone and he may have been harmed or something. Keep posted with the latest as you receive it. Jeff Raymond

Hopefully he's just off travelling somewhere. My thoughts are with his friends and family. Had some good times with him at Heuco years ago.

John is an old friend and climbing partner of mine; I pray that he turns up safe and sound. I will make this topic sticky for a few days.

Whoa. Hope he's OK. I haven't seen John in quite a few years - used to climb with him at Heuco and Vegas back when I was living the life. He's always been able to turn the cards to his favor; let's hope this hand plays out well.

FYI everyone, John's sister (Jane) told me that John Rosholt left the Phoenix area around New Years for a short trip to Las Vegas. None of his friends or family have heard from him since that time. Jane has been in contact with both the Scottsdale and Las Vegas police departments--but nothing has turned up so far. By tracing John's credit card purchases and ATM withdrawals she knows that he did make it to Las Vegas in early January. His credit card and ATM usage stopped on 1/19/2005. The condition of his house here in Scottsdale and his personal effects inside would indicate that John was indeed planning on a making a relatively short trip and that he intended to return. Curt

Curt, have they found his vehicle (assuming he drove)? Or any clues the police can disclose? Bump.

Ahhh.. errr..... A description of the car he was last seen driving would be a good start. I could certainly put the word out through my network 'o' friends/partners. I do know some folks in vegas who might have encountered him at the crags. Bump. Robert

John used to stay with me in the Calico Basin house and he usually called me to at least tell me he was in town.

Hey, what about, rather than the continuous bump, something more permanent on the front page? Most people who actually read the forums have probably seen the post by now. Maybe we need something larger that would catch the attention of more people? It seems important enough to me. -John

Also, I remebmer in the Ralston case, it was finding his car in the parking lot at the trail head that led to his eventual rescue. Perhaps if we had a make model and plate#, people in the area could keep an eye out?

John was/is driving a dark gray 1989 Toyota 4Runner--the old 2-door style rig. I will post the plate number here when I get it. Curt

This is very shocking news. Curt, thanks for getting the word out. John is a good friend and a good guy in general. Hopefully he is just road tripping.

Park police at Red Rocks check all pullouts (parking areas) every night when the loop road closes. If his car was at any of these, they would have found it by now. The only one they don't check is Black Velvet canyon as it is technically outside of the park. They do patrol it occasionally during busy times for illegal camping. I hope they find him safe!
