Let's keep the puritan, goody-goody, mentality out of climbing! If you are one of those cross training, amino acids and supplement taking, vegan, holier than thou, god fearin', imbecils... than don't drink. Be the way, I never climb drunk...but hungover...

Well said my friend. I agree completely. I never climb even buzzed but I do climb after a beer or three. I was climbing this weekend with my buddy with a Heineken Keg can in hand and I start talking to this guy and chick pair about Lover's Leap and how a good bloody mary made by Petch after a long day climbin' really hits the spot. Well they put their noses in the air and kinda shrugged us off. Then my buddy hears her whisper to her boy friend "Losers!", as they're leaving. At first I kinda like, "whatever", when my buddy told me but then I got pissed off. I try to be nice and I get this snooty crap!!!!......whatever.

I agree completely. I never climb drunk either...it's stupid. But I do like to climb with a beer or three. I was climbing with a buddy last weekend with a Heineken Keg can in hand when we run into a guy and chick pair. I hear them talking about Lovers Leap and I say "The Leap's really great climbin'. Have you guys ever tried one of Petch's Bloody Mary's at the lodge after climbin'??? It really hits the spot". Well they kinda shrugged us off and as they were leaving my buddy hears the chick whisper "losers" to her boy friend. At first when my buddy told me I was like, 'whatever", but then I though about it and I was a bit offended. I try to be nice and I get this snooty bullshit!!!!!! whatever

Yeah, these very same folks are trying to take over my party town and turn it into a freakin' "pleasantville". Kind of like changing a historic western town into yet another gated, white, suburban, housing "community." What's with these freaks anyway!!! Elitests are sucking the coolness out of everything it seems!

Thou shalt..... Oh wait, to hell with you moral/religious zealots. I'd place money on the assumption that these same anti-drug preachers consume mcdonalds and health-hazzardous junkfood while driving their 15MPG SUV on a daily basis.... Oh they irony....

So first of all I'd have to say this is one of the most entertaining forms I have read to date. That said, I don't think there'd be a big problem with a drink after a climb, but then again I'm not one to get drunk. I don't think you should be drinking while you're climbing, and most certainly not while you're belaying, but afterward... Well just don't do anything too stupid and you should be okay. As far as the effects of drinking on training go, I try not to drink the night before I climb, but, then again, I enjoy sleep.

The problem with booze is alcohol destoys cells yes your body makes these cells again but you take a full day of climbing mix it with dehydration and celluar destruction plus no Rem sleep you don't recover as well. Me I am a big fan of a beer in the evening(Rogue man myself). As far as pro-athletes these are people that perform at 99.9% of there ability. Every little bit counts.
