In other news, a climb I was really looking forward to getting on this weekend does not exist any more. The fate of climbs in our sport.

Backed off on a stellar splitter this weekend. I just wasn't feeling it, what, with the 85 degree heat and 90% humidity. No matter how much chalk I had on my hands I couldn't get them to stay in the crack. It was a nasty fall onto some ledges and I didn't really want to risk it.

Mundays, suck. That is all.

Airation?

Here is a bunch of stuff from Yosemite, TM and Squamish.

Yogi!

First Valley R00t on t3h Apron.

Regular R00t on Fairview Dome

Another Dome we climbed, can't recall the name...

Don't f33d t3h squrr-ilz

Here are some from Squamish a friend took, I haven't uploaded mine yet. Hopefully I'll have more soon.

Fun 2-pitch .9+ we did recently:

Another one, can't remember details...

The viewz...

Kite Surfing! Potential hobby!

175 feet of splitter, one of the best pitches so far.

The Grand Wall

Yesterday we climbed a 23-pitch link up up the chief. Everything from 5.5 to 5.9+. Mostly pretty moderate ground, I think there were only 7 pitches of .9. We had a blast! Notice the ass-crack of dawn start.

Mt. Garibaldi from the Chief.

I wore through the leather of my mocassym and tore up my toe pretty good. Other than that, I'm still healthy (don't say it too loud)

First time on top of the Chief.

Heading back to camp after the climb.

I hope I didn't just crash the site

That's if for now. I'm having a blast and climbing well. Squamish rulz!

My gen one is still in pretty decent condition. Gen one, as in no stoopid diagram on the side depicting how one should use the Reverso Gen one.

Psst. There's a secret on how not to get your reverso sharp-like and all. Believe you me, I'm still a bit confused as to which one I'll rack up.

Well, I have found that it is difficult to belay a second NOT directly on the anchor. The convenience is there, and for many things, it's a simpler operation. But this comes from guiding, where it paid to be somewhat lazy efficient.

[btw: obtained the Reverso 3 this weekend. Far superior to the ATCGuide.]

Had to retire my original (yes original, not the 2nd gen one with the ridges) Reverso a couple weeks ago. I was getting t3e Sharpz edgez! Frown

Still waiting for someone to get the Reverso 3 in stock here... As I cannot find my old stitch plate (my first belay device) I have had to resort to t3e ATC Mad

Yeah, LOTS of use over many years wears it down to a nice sharp edge. This is the first non-figure-8 rap/belay device that I've had to retire from wearing it out.

Using my old ATC I have to say I like the Reverso MUCH better.

Airation?

Aeration ended with me having a nice bruise/ropeburn on my leg for the past two weeks. The one I wasn't feeling was an obscure 5.8 in Acadia. The heat and humidity were getting to me. And I didn't want to drag Christine up a climb that would trouble me. Instead I did an obscure link-up of 4 climbs. Doubt that I was the first, and from the looks on some guides' faces I doubt that I'll be the last. Stemming to stacked hands to ramp to two lieback/mantle moves. It's a way to circumvent the guides hogging routes.

Yesterday we climbed a 23-pitch link up up the chief. Everything from 5.5 to 5.9+. Mostly pretty moderate ground, I think there were only 7 pitches of .9. We had a blast! Notice the ass-crack of dawn start.

Did you do the normal version or the 5.9 variation?
The 5.9 variation is good except if you fuck up you'll probably land on your belayer.

Fishhook Arete falls under the same constraints of the unfathomable trail quota on the N. Fork Trail in Mt Whitney.

Let me check the quota page and see what's avail.
