Man, if 5.12 is middle of the road, I'm never even gonna make it off the shoulder... Additionally (although MH may mean well) his logic is fatally flawed here. What if someone was doing "a few 5.12's or even a few 5.13's" back when those grades represented the hardest routes out there? By this same logic, Maddhatter may as well give Sharma a bunch of shit today for merely being a "middle of the road climber" and never reaching 5.18--just because someone will be climbing that hard 20 or 30 years from now. I really think that if there were a message at the top of the screen asking noobs to search for answers to their questions before starting a new thread on an identical topic to 24 other noobs that the noob flaming would decrease and the silly noob threads would decrease. Wait............ sorry what was i thinking posting a practical solution to the core problem. I meant to say @#$% you noobs how dare you not know everything about our hallowed pastime grr i'm agressive and probably have intimacy and commitment issues grr grr I'm good your bad GRRRR rarrrrhhh down with noobs!!! I think I enjoyed the novelty of climbing quite a lot at the start. Now it's more just about having a good time, and it's all a lot more relaxed. know what I mean? (btw, art, yore welcome.)
