For a while, Organic was making a chalk bag they'd dubbed the Bob bag, purpose built for Bob Scarpelli's hands. It didn't have a zippered pouch, unfortunately, but it fit 4.5-camalot-is-perfect-fists-sized hands up above the wrist.

You could always email Josh and see if he's still doing it. Or contact Russ with Fish. Either one would probably custom build it for a little extra.

Damn! That's a really nice chalk bag. I'd say I'm surprised by it but I'm not. It's the same one I have. Very nice product too.

Dingus I can't get the porno to fit in the zipper though. Cannibus is okay but it gets kind of crumbly. I once tried snorting but got the chalk confused with the other stuff...

Now I just put keys in there. I got tired of the keys jingling on my harness.

I think we should all suggest what goes in the zipper too. Since it's Dingus *wild* guesses are probably appropriate as well.

I'm betting on a rubber glove that he found in the library under the candlestick while playing clue with his first girlfriend.Laugh

My first girlfriend had a quaint aversion to rubber.

Crumbly. That's what THESE tins are for!

That is your tip of the day!

I care. The crumblies loose their zest much faster then their non-crumbled cousins. Drying out degrades the contents as well. The stuff is fantastically expensive and must be handled with care. Until recently this stuff cost more than gold... literally.

Hey Dingus,

I've got a pretty new chalkbag that I never use, because it is too wide and too deep.

No zipper pocket, but if you PM me your address, it's yours.

Cammie I appreciate that but I already have one of those. Two of them actually. They were made for me personally, about 15 years ago. I put one away immediately and used the other one till I used it up. Then I remembered its mate so some 11 or 12 years later, about 8 years after my friend gave up the business and went to work for Home Depot, I started using my NEW 12-year old chalk bag.

Its the one I use right now.

It has no zipper. That's its one lack. Plus I'd like to keep this one as a a momento.

Anyway, I totally appreciate the offer, but its the zipper pouch that calls me!

According to my D.A.R.E class, today's crumblies are far more potent than the non-crumblies of your youth.

Nope.

Ever since my jeep was broken into last spring and the contents cleared out (climb and back country ski gear) I have had a serious problem with completing a purchase.

I can't bring myself to thumb catalogs. And even though my insurance will make me whole with replacement cost, I have yet to replace all those stolen items,

It really took the wind out of my gear whore sails for some reason.

Maybe I'm depressed.

Self-medication.... WHERE'S MY MEDICINE!!??

I like the Arc Terrey one too.

I really hope there is a special place in hell for people who do stuff like that. Theft is the most cowardly act on earth.

Sorry, just a bit angry about that one... I hate thieves and for my own reasons. I used to have quite a bike, it was insured too but not at cost to replace. I lost out on a memorable bike, hand built frame just for me that I'd spent hours building, tweaking and tuning. That's lame.

Can't say I miss it.

I do miss the beer.

And the women. I always miss that. But women aren't fattening (till you marry them that is, then its all EAT! EAAAAAATTTTTTT! Fatten you up so you can't run away... I am SO on to those tactics!)

Sorry to hear about the Jeep Dingus.

Can't bring yourself to buy new gear, huh. Sorry I have NO IDEA what that is like. Although I can understand being disheartened.

Best of luck with restocking. Take your medicine and go searching. In my experience I can stare at anything while on "medicine."

I'm in the same boat. I'm upgrading my bag with something that I can stash a couple of bits and pieces in. Knife (trango pirhana), maillon or rap ring (maybe, maybe not), and a bit o prussic cord.

Top ones on my list so far:

DMM Strone: I might be making a DMM order anyway. Could throw this on top

Petzl Kodapoche: Agree with Dingus about the logo. I can't think of a good way to write in the "R"

BD bag w/ pocket: I don't know why, but something about this bag irritates me. I think it's because it's pretty much the same bag that comes with intro packages, just with a pocket

Krieg bag: Interesting. I like the look of those. Anyone know how big the pockets are?

Arc'teryx c30p/c50p: It would match my harness. I can't decide whether or not that is actually a good thing. It's also irritating that there is no convenient way to attach the bag to the harness without getting creative

Verve bag: Same with the krieg bags. How big?

Dingus

You might try Ragged Mtn in NH ( 877-772-4433). Their web site shows only small ones now, but I have seen larger ones there in the past, and purchased one a couple of years ago.

Nylon (weight ~ light pack cloth), diameter almost 5", length ~9", pile in bottom half, zipper pocket on bottom.

I think I paid ~$10, probably on sale.

I have this theory that whenever anyone asks for the best of the best or exceptional examples or the most highly recommended things on any internet thread, the eventual result is a list of everything. So if you don't like flipping catalog pages, fer god's sake buy a damn chalk bag before every flippin' bag ever made shows up in this thread!
