Everyone on our local fasebuk grupe is shitzing their pansh in rage over it. It started a while back when I was ribbing a friend with "you're just cheating yourself" and it took on a huge shitshow that now has people quoting the rockprodigy gospel and other funny douchebaggery. Are they shitzing their pants because someone told them not to heelhook anymore? What is the rockprodgity gospel? Stuff about how training is about getting strong in the most efficient, least amount of time, so heelhooking infringes on that? I posted that article to facespace to see if any butthurt could be caused. It's all over the map. I think a lot of it is the premise that gym climbing isn't rockclimbing, it's training for rockclimbing. Many people see it as an end in and of itself and get butthertz when you imply their monthlong projecting of the gnar purple route is just wankery. Many just don't like people telling them what to do. Many are guilty that they don't actually train to get stronger, they just go donk aimlessly around in the gym. Yeah, I recall people getting pissed at me the last time I climbed at the gumby university gym a few years ago, when I went off on a rant about how lame those artificially textured Entre Pris walls (which were so popular like 6 years ago) were. It's a similar divide, between people who want to use gyms for creative and fun problems, and those who just want to get stronger. I do think it's silly when people usethe "oh, I'm practicing technique for outside!" argument in the gym, though. I would put myself in teh middle. I want to get stronger, and climbing in the gym helps, but I'd rather enjoy myself there at the expense of not getting as strong as I might if I (hang)bored teh shit owt of myself with focused trainingz. Yeah, I am in this category too. It doesn't hurt though that the gyms here are really good, the route setters know what they are doing, and there are fresh routes all the time. yea. definitely don't have the patience for actual training. I climb difficult things and work on a mix of crimps or slopers or whatever. i usually do ropes and bouldering to pretty much failure then go do pullups and the pvc pipe campusing.

I know it's teh RRR weke end, it also happens to be the optimal time for me. planning on doing teh Eagle Dance. Cool. Let me know if you guys need a place to stay. cool, thanks. if not, hopefully we can meet up either friday or saturday night. sounds good. Although I enslave myself at RRR every year. I think I've volunteered every year since it started. I'll look and see what they scheduled me for.

Either way, it'll be my first trip there. Should be kewl if I can find a rope gun. My year pass runs out in September this year. Might be convinced to head up for a weekend in October, but considering Nathan might be quiting his jorb early so he can go climb and downgrade everyonese mixed lines next year I'll probably be feeling too poor. Plus, you'll probably just get bailed on. It's teh biner after all. "Hey, come climb with me at Skytop, guys!" Heh.. Hey wait, that was anothe rnot funny.
