Thats what happens when you try to TR a long overhanging route. Thats why she should have been leading it not climbing it.

So the crux is trying to pass one rope through the other?

What's dicked up is that the belayer and spectator saw that shit coming and just let it happen. And you can TR it, you just need to do it on the other end of the rope and unclip as you go.

He could have been just as clueless as the climber. Not so sure about the guy who walks up in the middle of it. If it were you walking up to it while the climber already started, what would you do? It didn't look like she had anything on her harness that would enable her to go in direct. Tell her to grab a draw on the wall and clip into it? NO, she is likely to screw that up and fall. Tell her to down-climb? No, because if she falls while downclimbing, the swing would be even worse. Pretty much the only thing you can do, if you are a spectator who walked in on such stupidity midway would be to hold your breath and hope she climbs high enough before she falls off... maybe yell to the climber to be careful and not fall until she is above a certain spot, that's about it... or am I missing something?

It appeared to me that he was getting out of the way of something. I only saw one thing to get out of the way of. And given a choice between swinging into the padded floor and crashing into a table I'd take the floor. And maybe I'd try to spot the swing if I walked up on it.

It looked to me like the spectator guy was trying to tell the belayer something ,and not simply getting out of the way of the wrecking ball, but I might be wrong. LOL, if it were me, I definitely would not be trying to spot that lady, as she outweighs me by 60-80 pounds, charitably estimated. If there was a crash pad nearby, I might have thrown it over the table, but at the same time, I'm not sure I would have been able to analyze the situation that fast. You are right, maybe telling her to down-climb might have been a good choice.

that was awesome. A similar thing happened at a commercial gym that I used to go to, except that the person who fell was the manager of the gym, and he pendulum-plowed through a group of like a dozen birthday kids. Nobody was hurt, and amazingly no lawsuits occured.

Lena_Chita... You nailed it on the head. The anchors were not for this climb. Way too much slack on the climber, even though his side was taunt the climber side had too much slack. That girl flew into that desk. Ouch! My question who is Eric?
