I heard on the radio today that Mr. Rogers died last night. Make fun of me all you will, but I was saddened by the news. I grew up on Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood and Sesame Street. And now both of the men behind these shows are gone. I think its another sad day for children's television.

Yea, he was one person who made a consistant difference in kid lives. I think he set a standard that will never be repeaded in children's programing. Nowdays they have tellatubies. That is not education. Yes, Fred Rogers will be missed.

My favorite is the ending song. "It's such a good feeling to know your alive. It's such a happy feeling. You're growing inside, and when you wake up ready to say 'I think I'll make a snappy new day.' It's such a good feeling, a very good feeling. The feeling you know...that I'll be back, when the day is new, And I'll have more ideas for you. And you'll have things you'll want to talk about. I will, too."

Apparently he didn't know about the cancer until last month, so I'm hoping it was as painless as it was quick.

He will be missed by millions of kids that grew up with him. The best thing I can think to say about him was that he was a good man! They come along all too infrequently. Goodbye Fred!

I'm really sad to see this. I loved that man. Great, honest entertainer that really loved children. He entertained me as a child. What a great loss.

I lost my grandfather to stomach cancer; it's not a fun way to go. I'm surprised he didn't know until the last month that he had it. I guess you know you're aging when pieces of your childhood die. Jim Henson, the original grocer on Sesame Street, now Mr. Rogers....

This is such sad news. I admit that I spent a lot of my childhood plopped in front of the TV when I was a kid living in NYC. Mr. Rogers was one of my favorites. Its strange how he never really seemed to age that much in my eyes. As illogical as it may be, he almost seemed immortal. I don't know. For someone that I didn't personally know, I'm feeling awfully sad about his death. :(

Just some info that most don't know. Mr. Rogers was one of the most decorated Marine Snipers in Viet Nam. He's not only a legend with his kids programing but also with the Marine Snipers. He's a great and honorable man that will never be forgotten.

sniper? dude, you got some evidence or sources to back that up? I mean, the show started in 1968, and before that he was working in canada. just wondering.

In reply to: "Ohhhhhh.... It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, such a beautiful day for a neighbor (what the heck does that MEAN??!!)..." Don't think of Mr. Rogers as gone....... He has merely moved on--to a better neighborhood. Curt

As www.fark.com so poignantly put it (for all their cynicism they can be poignant): "Mr. Rogers has died. Heaven a better place today." So many happy memories. He will be missed.
