Traddad:

Thanks for that site, there are some awesome tee's there. If she made a line of climbing ones akin to the dirt bike ones she has there, I'm totally gonna be making some purchases :D !! If she could make one of a girl trad climbing with "dirt barbie" on it, that would be perfect.

I like Melissa's idea, just have "dirt Barbie" on it. Keeps it nice and simple, just like the original shirt idea started out. It's getting awfully complicated now.

Well, I've just taken on a web design job, too. I'll try to come up with a decent drawing by the end of next week.

I lied. THis week is insane. Hopefully next week I'll have a logo design and a cartoon. I will try . . . design is hard because I don't have the right software for it.

For those who're concerned about the Mattel trademark infringement... In the previous thread, someone had also suggested the "name" Trad Tracy...

I always chuckled when I read it, as I have a friend named Tracy, who's got the attitude (alas not the interest) to be a trad "chick"...

- d.

P.S> I just had a funny idea while brushing my teeth... Add some guys trying to sport climb some bolts next to the crack, and put the following phrase underneath:

"I can trad your sport route" ;)

Update: I suck, guys. It's very hard for me to do the design with my current set up (PC with no internet access and no scanner) and I am officially going offline for the next few weeks on a climbing trip.

I WILL eventually get to this once I settle down south but I don't expect that to happen until mid October.

SORRY!

First of all, I think this is a GREAT idea. What about something like "Rock on" for a slogan? That it's not offensive, but still very obvious we're climbers!

Secondly, the teen magazine CosmoGirl! has a program to encourage girls to live up to their full potential, etc., with the hopes a woman will be President by 2024. Maybe someone could contact them in hopes they'd help it get off the ground. They do stuff like that all the time.

I'd definitely buy a shirt like that- ultra cool! But I wouldn't put anything provacative on the front, it would really cut down who buys it.

sooo did we just give up on that whole idea? cause i thought it was cool. you know most of us would want one. we have a lot of ideas and if we could just agree on one that'd rock. i'm not saying i'mnot taking charge of it or anything, i just don't want a good idea of the dirt barbis to go to waste. cause it was an awesome idea.
tell me what's going on...?

For the next hour or so, I'll come up with a text-based version. Drawing something would take a lot longer. Hang on.

We aren't going to get sued, so I don't really care if we use the real logo, etc.

Here's the design:

http://www.maculated.com/images/barbie.jpg

I am working on creating a store on 99dogs.com that will allow you to order whatever kind of shirt (color) you want. I recommend dark shirts for the design. I'll post here when they approve my designs.

Maculated graciously moved her design post to this thread so we don't have yet ANOTHER Dirt Barbie thread running around, but I'd like to repost responses to her original thread which praise her fantastic design! Unfortunately, we don't have the capabilities to move individual posts, so this is the best that I can do. :)

BTW, the real design is transparent. I figure we put it on some colored shirts.

OMG! This is too kewl!

I saw the post in the general forum and had to take a look... My Daughter (McKenna, 6 yrs. old) would totally dig this. She has been on a very "I'm not a girlie girl, I'm a Tom Boy!" kick for the past month. She even pitched a fit when her Mom bought her a pink T-Shirt...

Ok, so I'm definitely interested... what's the cost, and when do you need payment?

Thanks!

Scott

i have to admit, i did not like the term Dirt Barbie. something along the lines of Trad Betty would have been better...
But I love this design. Great job.
