Do u put stickers or decals on your helmet ?? If so, what kind of stickers do you have on your helmet now ? I heard somewhere that the chemicals on the stickers will do HARM to the helmet ?? Any truth or experience that confirm this ?

I let my 3.5 yr old daughter decorate my helmet with red rubber stamps of kittens and ladybugs. I then labled the front with "DORK" just in case anyone was misinformed.

I have about 4-5 stickers on my helmet, but my favorite one is my most obscure one; Women In Mining. It's some nationally recognized organization. How/when I got it, I have no idea.

climbing helmet has nothing except one "nut" cut off of a mtn hdwr sticker. my work hard hat has BD, Petzl, Trango, Yates, International Merkur Owners Network, "tie or die" courtesy of OSHA, www.cdc-usa.com (my employer) my name, a spiderman sticker (a client nicknamed me and slapped it on) and about 30 of the little "nuts" cut off mtn hdwr stickers.

Did someone say "stickers?" Uh, yeah -- I'm the king. I have stickers on top of stickers on my lid. Some from 4 or 5 years ago that have faded and are only held on by the new stckers that overlap them. A lot of Petzl, a few from Misty, Mountain Hardwear, some from BD, Omega, Pusher, Edelweiss, Beal, Blue Water, Trango, and several others. It ain't pretty. But then again...let's just say it's appropriate for me. Ed

No stickers on the brain bucket, but plenty of home-grown marker graffiti. Starting in front, a big stylized letter F (for Ford!) working around the sides, we have "Caution, hot exhaust" next to the vents, drawn on horns, a lightning bolt and crossed hammer, with the word "Mjollnir" (the name of Thor's Hammer) and on the back, a viking head and the motto du jour: "Fear profits a man nothing." Also present on one side, and again on the INSIDE are "O+ no known allergies" because... hey... ya never know. ---Ford--- vengeance is Mine, sayeth the Ford

Helmet stickers are kind of, um, 90's, aren't they? Next you'll be telling me you wear lycra tights and long hair too? Nah. I'm just funnin ya (sort of)... No stickers on my helmet or my jeep. All stickers gets stuck to a couple of cabinet doors in my garage where I store my gear. That satisifies my irrational urge to plaster climbing stickers, without telling others I'm a gear geek or advertising on my vehicle, "Climber on board, thousands of dollars of gear to steal, please help yourself." My favorite cabinet sticker: FISH - Equipage for the HELL called LIFE. DMT

Not that anyone cares, but stickers are actually unsafe to put on your helemts (and hardhats). They can hide small cracks in the helmet that could potentially cause structural failure of the material. You all do what you want though.

Um, I've got a "Stardumb" sticker on one side, it's a bodyboarding clothing company that a friend of mine owns. And then there's the "Freshjive" starburst, I used to be sponsored by them when I was a surfer, many moons ago. And real big in the front, there's a pen scribble that says "I Love My Wife". I figure that if I'm neglecting her to climb, she at least deserves an honorable mention, right?

The only sticker I have on my brain bucket is a small green Yosemite recycling sticker off a bottle of beer. It says simply "Yosemite - 5¢." I figure 5¢ is probably about the value of the brain being protected. :)

None. I like the stark whiteness of my helmet. It's boring white surface sets me apart  ! The only helmet sticker I ever saw and said "now that is awesome, I wish I had that" was my Zion friend Rob's. He has a Yates sticker on the back of his hemlet with a sticker of Britney Spears seated on top of it in a sexy little pose. It's just so wrong it's right. I'm gonna find it and post it in this thread.

No stickers, but my wife painted my helmet with the head of a Tibetan Yama. It's a frightful beast with three eyes, fiery horns, and a crown of skulls. Can't miss it. The paint will surely get scratched off in time, but that's ok. It can always be sanded clean and host a new creation.

I have a Red Bullseye on top and a really ugly happy face on the side This sticker was so ugly when I asked how much, the lady said "just take it" so I thought what better place for it, than my helmet. I also put some of those fake hole stickers. So many people have commented on the holes in my helmet look unsafe.

My favorites were given to me by a friend that works at a chemical refinery one is a Hazardous Waste sticker and the other is anothe rhuge caution sticker saying Contains PCB's . . . The Chica took one of the "evolve" stickers, showing evolution from ape to climber, cut each figure out and has them displayed on her nalgene . . . turned out really well. At Rock n Snow at the gunks you can buy the silly beach pass stickers (ex. OBX) that you see on every single person in the world's SUV, but instead of having the call letters (or whatever they are called) you have the name of Gunks classic routes.

No stickers on this one. Just original classic red. I wrote on an old one. "not a step" on top, and "go up" with an arrow under the brim, just visible when looking up. The best I have seen are "I'm not wearing any underwear" and a silver trucker mudflap girl. When I went to an OSHA safety course once in a previous life they did say that some glues from some stickers could damage some hard hats. We weren't supposed to use any stickers unless they were specifically hard hat safe. Some of those safety stickers were pretty funny though and would make fun helmet stickers. I put all my stickers now onto my 2 burner coleman stove and propane tank.

I had a sticker that I wanted to put on my helmet. It said "Stop following me: I don't know where I'm going". Then I realized it was too big for my helmet and it looked retarded. K.

One says: " Me?Yeah!, mountain by experience". The other one is just: "Millet" I should get some other cool stickers, though. Wish I could get the: "give me the coffee and nobody gets hurt" sticker  That would suit me

I just got a Black Diamond Half Dome helmet. I plan to put an Old Glory sticker on there if I can find one. Also, I want to get like a name sticker (any ideas on that one?) I think those are the only ones. I am soon going to be getting a headset for my two way radios which is supposed to be compatible to a helmet.

Helmet Stickers: Bear cut from The Backpacker large sticker (http://www.backpackerqualitygear.com/54931/pages.htm) Fruit Stickers (Red Delicious, Granny Smith) (They go on when i eat food with stickers when climbing ... LNT!) "The Backpacker" logo "Half Moon Outfitters" logo (www.halfmoonoutfitters.com) Pro-Tec small stickers (its a canoe? company, but they were free at work) Lowe Alpine (because I love their packs) assorted "highlights" stickers - smiling stars the crazy girl across the hall made me put on my lid. Two comments: 1. Love the idea about blood type and allergies. Its great. 2. My parents got me "Accidents in North American Mountaineering" for the last four years for Christmas. 1951 - 1999 lists "No hard hat" as a contributory cause in 269 accidents. Being dead sucks. That being said, wearing a helmet is a choice you have to make ... just know the consequences. - coylec

Read this topic last night but didn't post...since I have nothing better to do right now I thought I'd pitch in. Well, I don't own a helmet...unless my new bike helmet counts, but then again it has no stickers on it. My Nalgene is plastered with stickers, which include: ~Arkansas One-Call System (my uncle works for the phone co) ~KAVU ~Climber Online (hey it was free!) ~Baylor University (it's covered by other stickers, all you can see is the "LOR") ~ALASKA ~another KAVU (with mountains) ~Alaska Grown ~American flag That's all she wrote, but I do like the idea of putting stickers in the gear closet...will keep that in mind!

I have La Sportiva, Camel Bak, and Lowe Alpine on my noodle bucket. I also have stickers on the backglass of my truck. My favorite is a rare Grateful Dead sticker with a skeleton climbing. The rock is sculpted with "It's been a long hard climb." My newest sticker, which hasn't been applied yet, is the logo for Smith sunglasses. I also like to put stickers on my coffee mugs. The one I have now has a wild country sticker. I used to have a mug with a "If you don't have Kelty, then you don't have Dick!" I set the mug on the bedrail of my truck, pulled out of my driveway, and ran over it. I was crushed mentally for days.

Chiquita Banana sticker on the forehead.....that's the only one so far. I absolutely refuse to place commercial gear stickers. I'll gladly support manufacturers by purchasing their product, and let others know when I am pleased with the performance, but am not willing to act as an animated billboard free of charge. Now if they came up with some sort of program that rewarded me for wearing their stickers.....(send in photo of yourself on various climbs and get points toward free gear, they get to have rights to use photos for promotion....Hey - that's actually not a bad idea, no?)....... that would be an entirely different story. I'm just starting out, so don't have many climbs done, but I am thinking that, as I travel, I will get little tourista stickers from the various towns, parks etc. While this is, in effect, also promotion....being that the Jellystone Park-type stickers would be on my climbing helmet, it's skewed, so becomes okay, in my opinion. On a side note - I have some old girl scout merit badges (not my own; I got kicked out of the Brownies, so never made it to Junior scouts - but oh, how I coveted those badges on the other girls sashes...) that I've been wanting to sew onto my chalk bag.....

Maggie Simpson running it out on a slab, one eye up at the next real hold, the other at her last piece so far below...And working that pacifier like there's no tomorrow! Actually it came off a big sheet of Simpsons stickers but a 75' change in orientation and a little context was all it took to get Maggie off the floor and onto the rock! Also one 'Arai Racing Helmets' in front to help me safely enjoy the ride, and a 'Chimay' Belgian Ale label on the back to keep my motivation up! (Beer tastes so much better after a hard-earned summit and consoles like nothing else when I don't.) Oh yes and a big grinning Jack-O-Lantern on the other side to help me keep perspective on it all :D

FYI, I hear that putting stickers on your helmet voids the warranty. That said, it won't stop me from putting stickers on my new helmet! One of my favorites though is my friend's sticker on the back of his helmet: KILL YOUR TV No doubt!

In reply to: I heard somewhere that the chemicals on the stickers will do HARM to the helmet ?? Any truth or experience that confirm this ? yes. if you read the instructions that should've come with your helmet, they probably say not to put stickers on your helmet for that exact reason. I've got an Ecrin Roc and an Ecrin Best, they both said pretty vehmently not to put stickers on them, but that it was OK to drill holes in the helmet, as long as you didn't drill too many. (i'm a caver as well as a climber, so i tend to mount things on my helmets at an alarming rate, but no stickers)

I started out by just putting my initials on it so it wouldn't get mixed up with other people's but then when I wasn't able to climb for a while due to a wrist injury, I took a pack of colored sharpies to it and now it kind of looks like a easter egg with all of the squiggly colored lines on it. I get lots of comments about it! Its fun!

Resurrecting an old post...I just added a few stickers to my helmet... Pink Floyd Free Mustache Rides And one from Sonic (fast food restaurant), that says "Warning: Due to product length, protective equipment may be required for first time and novice eaters." There is a picture of a person cramming a cheese coney into their eye. If you think about this in a sexual way it is HILARIOUS.

Climb.ZA (check out www.climb.co.za - for some good info on the South African climbing scene) pic of Commandante Che' Both looking a little deshevelled right now, after my helmet took a 450ft fall (fortunately without me attatched) from halway up a route. Felt like a right tit after watching it retrace our steps, disappearing from view in a matter of seconds :? Quite spectacular to watch though! Lesson learned: Shave before donning a helmet! Your chin won't itch, and you won't be tempted to undo the strap for a scratch! .... and if you do really need to undo the chinstrap for a bit - DON'T LOOK UP! hahaha A few days later, I took the hour and a half walk to the base of the route, and there my helmet was, no more than a few feet away from the cairn marking the start of the route! What good luck!!! A few scratches and patchy remnants of stickers, and a missing headlamp clip, but no noticeable cracks or any other damage though. Time to start collecting some new stickers!

I used to have 5.10, access fund, petzl, katadyn, charlet, la sport, on there. they all came off except for a black Charlet decal that's hard to see on the carbon fiber (i have the HB Dyneema). I got tired of giving companys free advertising. I teach, people see what I have on my helmet, i was tired of being a billboard. I'm pretty happy with all of my Charlet gear, and it's not very noticable so I left that one on. Now, unless I have a working relationship with that company, they're not going on my helmet. My car is another story... To each their own, Jim

"I like big Jugs" "whatever gets you up" "stop staring at my ass" "Similarities between cocaine and chalk: both get you high" "It's not cocaine Officer, I swear!" these are a couple that me and some friends had thought of and heard of.

Only three on my bucket. #1 "Stickers are for losers" #2 "I'd rather be doing your sister" #3 "My other helmet shit the bed" All in all I change my stickers in between climbs for photo op's.

In reply to: Helmet stickers are kind of, um, 90's, aren't they? Next you'll be telling me you wear lycra tights and long hair too? Nah. I'm just funnin ya (sort of)... No stickers on my helmet or my jeep. All stickers gets stuck to a couple of cabinet doors in my garage where I store my gear. That satisifies my irrational urge to plaster climbing stickers, without telling others I'm a gear geek or advertising on my vehicle, "Climber on board, thousands of dollars of gear to steal, please help yourself." My favorite cabinet sticker: FISH - Equipage for the HELL called LIFE. DMT I had a roof top box with stickers from every company this gear whore purchased from. One day it occurred to me, 'you f'ing idiot, why not just say $1000-3000 worth of gear in the car for the taking." In anycase, i like the stickers on my nut shell. They add to what was an otherwise bland HB Olympus but they aren't all gear whore stickers (ok most are). My wifes helmet has little climbing stickers and much more individual stickers (Razorbacks, A giant Purple Frog, a Mountain Woman sticker, some other stupid stuff that she likes). They way I look at it you might not remember anything else about me if we meet at the crag other than I look somewhat retarded and I have a bunch of interesting stickers on my lid (which doesn't make me look any less retarded).

I have sooo many stickers on my helmet.
