I first me Shawn at Solid Roch Gym in Lake Forest, CA (OC). It ended up that he lived in my neighborhood at the time... I had seen his crazy little modded out pickup with random climbing stickers on the back, so I was curious for a while. Then I met him at the gym. WAAAY cool dude!!! Went out of his way to get as many of us to try slacklining.
Bumber that he got ratted out by MB to the cops in Utah a while back. What a dick move by MB. Driving 100+ through Utah with some green in the car, then gets pulled over and rats Shawn out to the cops.
MB = bad friend.

You should gather a flock of the faithful and send them over to Lane and stalk Adam until you get him rebuild the Monkey benches and resuccitate his SL rig and wire. If he balks, keep stalking. If that fails send in supplicant nubiles to lure him out in the open where he cannot escape.

He's not a "bro", "friend", or "rad dude". Metolius is a very deeply disturbed individual. He has a rap sheet longer than a dictionary. He hung out here in Joshua Tree extensively for a spell being really "rad".
He's a known thief.
A bunch of us had gone climbing and he tagged along with us. He had just gotten out of jail for the umpteenth time. Yet proceeded to sit in the middle of the parking lot at Uncle Willy's on a busy weekend smoking pot from a 2 foot bong right at the time the rangers usually patrol the area.
I commented to him that this may not be the best idea. He didn't seem to care. I chatted with a while and asked why he doesn't get some help through the system. He couldn't be bothered.
Fuck him. He deserves to be where he is. Away from society. There are a large number of people who would like to get their hands on him. He would constantly offer to fix peoples gear, they would give it to him, then vanish with it.
Good riddance!
